The extreme size difference between the B and the e still bothers me a lot.

Info on the Harry Kalas patch. Whoever said they will replace the World Series sleeve patch with this one appears to be mistaken, as it will apparently be worn on the chest.

Uniform Patches

Beginning tomorrow, players will wear HK uniform patches for the rest of the season. The black circular HK patch will be located on the front of the jersey in the area of the heart.

Same here. It strikes me as a wordmark that's way too big at its beginning, and all scrunched up at its end.

Me as well.

I know they use a similar descending script for the homes, but the shorter word means that it's not nearly as noticeable.

Instead of having the home and road letters each be smaller by the same % on each, they should use a different formula - one established size for the first letter, one for the last letter, and all the letters in between grow proportionally smaller in size based on how many "steps" there are between first and last.

Agreed.

However, I think BallWonk illustrated that the vanishing point of the "Baltimore" and "Orioles" script are actually the same angles. But the size difference is stark on the "Baltimore" script because the word is so long. I remember seeing it in whatever thread these jerseys were unveiled in (it may be this thread), but I'm too lazy to search for it.

The vests are back...

Notice they put the Pohlad patch on the front, and no Metrodome patch. Glen Perkins was the pitcher, so we'll have to see if he is the only one keeping this jersey in use. Someone should smack him upside the head. Well, he pitched great today, so maybe not.

The Twins in six home games have yet to wear the home primary.

I too have to agree with the above comments regarding the "Baltimore" script on their road uniforms. The "e" should be close to the same size as the "s' on the "Orioles" scrpit... then scale down the middle letters accordingly. Another thing that they need to watch for is placing the "B" at the proper distance from the "a". It appears that the spacing varies from jersey to jersey. The Indians has this problem before too. The gap from the "I" to the first "n" was different on many players.

The vanishing point in the "official" home script and the road script may be the same, but the "official" home script is only worn on the BP jerseys. The home (and black alternate) jerseys use a variation of the script that first appeared in the second version 1998 jerseys.

This is the "official" script, as seen on a 2007 team-issued BP jersey. I don't know that the letters are dropping to a "vanishing point" so much as "es" in "Orioles" is just one size down.

This is the script as worn on the home and alternate jerseys, as seen on a 2006 team-issued BP jersey. It's a little hard to see in this example, but the second "o" in "Orioles" is actually taller than the "ri". You also have the terrible fat transition from the second "o" to the "l" that first appeared late in the 2000 season.

Here's the current road jersey, from MLB.com: you can see that the lettering steps Bal-tim-ore, rather than proceeding smoothly to a vanishing point.

1999.jpg

In this shot of a team-issued 1999 alternate jersey, you get a better feel for how the second "o" is higher than the "i" in "Orioles", due to this script's origin as an on-the-fly change in 1998. Also note the thin transition from "o" to "l". This is still, IMO the best version of this script ever produced. (The first batch of Majestic jerseys were as good as the last Russells, but the quality of the sewn "Orioles" script really fell off starting in 2001.)

This is also a strong argument for the Orioles returning to three-color sewing on their alternates--and roads, for that matter-- but that's another story).

If it's green, it's the darkest shade of green I've seen in an MLB park. And if it can be mistaken for black...

I agree. If the seat backs/bottoms are "dark green", then the outfield wall is "darkest green".

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the Mets logo copyrighted under "TM" instead of "R"?
