AJM
So the Irish have to sit at home and watch the French completely implode and squander their spot in the World Cup. From the outside, I can always get a good laugh at French misfortune, but if I was Irish I think I'd be irate. Maybe the Irish wouldnt even have gotten out of the group stages but Im not thinking they would have embarrassed themselves on a world stage like this.Completely agree...the French has been a huge disappointment both on and off the pitch. I would have rather seen the Irish play an utilize the opportunity to play in the World Cup...I say send the whole French side home before their third match. Absolutely disgraceful. lordsketor
Kaka got red carded in the 88th Minute, but too little too late for Cote D'Ivoire. Many thanks to Discrimihater for making the sig.
Viper
Why Italy is wearing black armbands today?Former Italy defender Roberto Rosato died today. He's faking it.So, apparently, were all the current Azzurri players today.3-1 is the final in the last game today. Brazil advances, and it looks like the other Group G berth will come down to Portugal or Ivory Coast, whichever team thrashes North Korea by more goals. Hoopskid
Brutal officiating in the Brasil game. The second Brasil goal clearly a hand ball violation. The ref missed a lot of calls and also let a lot go, he should've been stricter at the beginning before letting the game get too physical and lowering the quality of play. lost_limey
So, so far the teams through to the round of 16 are:ArgentinaNetherlandsBrazilWith the other 13 spots all being up for grabs, right? And the only team definitely eliminated is CameroonAnd maybe Nigeria? BrySmalls
I would include France and South Africa on the eliminated list, barring hell freezing over.

NJTank
The French soccer team, what a joke. dfwabel
The French soccer team, what a joke. This is what FIFA gets for letting them screw Ireland. The team is a joke because the lack coaching, which was seen during qualifying. Domenech could be seen much differently if Zizou did not headbutt Materazzi. FIFA did not assign the officials, UEFA did. The match referee, Martin Hansson, is actually working in South Africa now. UEFA has used five officials before the France/Ireland game in the Europa League, but not during qualification. FIFA's IFAB (much like the NFL Competition or Rules Committee) met in March 2010 to decide following the Europa League to see if this was feasible in the upcoming World Cup when they would meet again in May. At that meeting, the IFAB extended their trail with an official at each goal line, but did not implement it for this years World Cup.
Saintsfan
The French soccer team, what a joke. This is what FIFA gets for letting them screw Ireland. Also FIFA didn't screw over Ireland, the ref of that game did. What happens, to the whole future of soccer, if FIFA came in and overturned that decision? What would then happen to the Brazil Ivory Coast game last night? Brazil's second goal included a handball. Do you want that game replayed? Or the US Slovenia game? When would they be replayed? Brazil's last group game is next Friday. Potentially their round of 16 match is 3 days later. To have overturned the result is hardly fair when it was even at the time. Whatever action FIFA took would have set a dangerous precedent. Back to the world cup, Brazil looked as good as anyone has against Ivory Coast last night, but it's seems difficult for teams to string good performances together so far. My current sense would be that a South American team will win the competition. 2011/12 WFL Champions
Sport
We now have a new leader for the best doc. "June 17th, 1994" just blew everything out of the water IMOReally? I had the opposite feeling...that this just wasn't up to par with the others.I was glued. A+!I was glued, too. But in the informative side, I really didn't learn anything new, like I have with most of the other documentaries. I wasn't wowed like I've been with some of the documentaries. The French soccer team, what a joke. Nobody is calling for the games to be overturned. They're calling for better officiating in-game. I don't watch a lot of soccer, but from what I've seen and judging by the complaints of everyone, it's been horrible in this world cup. What people want is for some video replay. It was a clear goal for the US on Friday, the dude on Brazil touched the ball with his hand twice yesterday, and Ireland might be in the world cup right now instead of this surly french team. Video review is all people are asking for, not after the fact judgements.

The just assume that Ireland would've gone on to win the match with out that goal. People need to get over it.
NJTank
Not just video review but its a joke that refs make calls and don't give an explination to which call they made. They can just blow the whistle because tehy feel like it. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

Seadragon76
Yep.Anyway, Portugal leads North Korea 1-0 at the half. I have to give the North Koreans credit, they are a fiesty team that loves to attack. Too bad they are in a group where they are clearly outclassed because you put them in a different group and they have a chance to get a few points and possibly advance.
