This Butler/Pitt ending is ridiculous.

Butler thought they won, but they fouled Pitt with 1.6 left.

Pitt gets two shots with a 1-point deficit. Makes the first, misses the second.

Going to OT? No. Pitt fouled Butler on the rebound with 0.8 seconds left.

Two shots. Butler makes the first and misses the second.

Then Pitt narrowly misses a full court prayer.

Butler wins 71-70. Pitt is the first #1 out.

WOW!

With that win, Butler is showing everyone that they are still Butler... You know, defending national runner-up. They aren't going anywhere any time soon.

The Women's tourny also started today (if anyone cares). Very few upsets with a 10 (Marist and Temple) and a 11 (Gonzaga) being the only low seeds to win.

Im pissed at myself in the Butler-Pitt game, I wanted to pick Butler but chickened out. Other than that this is what Pitt is, they fail when the pressure is on. Time and time again. They are a good team every year, but they choke in March.

Pitt - Butler was about as weird a finish as I've ever witnessed in the tournament. You just knew that Pitt player wasn't going to make both free throws to win the game. Speaking of which...

:censored: Pitt, Georgia (sorry Hedley), Tennessee, and Illinois. When they're a high seed, I always pick Pitt to make a decent run and they screw me every time. I can't seem to quit Georgia and Tennessee and they screw me every time I pick them too. Illinois always wins when I pick against them.

Thats why I stayed away from them, I knew they would choke because they always do. This region was made to order for Pitt and they did not make it to the Sweet 16. Maybe one year they will reach the Final Four but I wont ever pick them, because they always seem to blow it.

Butler - Was this really an upset? This is what Butler does best. Consider me back on the bandwagon for 2011.

Pitt - The San Diego Chargers/San Jose Sharks of NCAA Hoops. Jamie Dixon and his Wolverine haircut bounced early AGAIN.

Big East basketball - It's all been said. This year is no different from the rest.

I had Pitt going to the Final Four. My bracket is pretty much toast.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

You know what really cracks me up? Even though the Big East is getting exposed in March again, they'll have like ten teams ranked in the preseason polls next year again, and the selection committee will try to find a way to put even more Big East teams in the tournament at the expense of teams that deserve a spot more.

That Butler-Pitt ending was great. I got to the game with around 16:00 in the 2nd half. It was just crazy. All of those fouls and free throws, but I don't think the Pitt player (I forget who) got the full court shot off in time, so it wouldn't have counted anyways. The Cincy-UConn game was pretty fun until the end; Bishop put on a show. But then Kemba took over...

My goodness, that Pitt game was crazy. I didn't get to watch it (I was at a friend's volleyball tournament in Sakt Lake), but I had ESPN refreshing on my iPod constantly with updates. Freaking crazy. And of course, I picked Pitt to go to the title game. Stupid me, I should've known they'd choke.

And now with Pitt gone, I'm going to say what I never thought I'd (and never wanted) to say: BYU could certainly make the Final Four. It burns my tongue to say so, but hey, when it comes to BYU, this Ute fan is realistic and isn't blinded by hate :P Florida will be extremely tough, but if Jimmer's at his best, it could be enough. And it could be enough for Butler/Wisconsin, too (though I'll admit after yesterday, I'd be more cautious of Butler than Wisconsin).
