Arguing with dfwabel is like arguing with a brick wall that somehow got sloppy drunk.

Trading for Kolb today is like trading for Feeley in 2004 for what turned out to be Reggie Brown was a wash, but if you trade for a QB with under a season of starts seems very risky to me. AZ Cardinals will have two new starting linemen and a RB who is not reliable. Good luck.

Still though even he is way better then what they had last year. AZ might swipe the division back this year if their running game becomes reliable.

Also, it's kind of weird thinking back on it, but I remember a 2003 season preview I had. About the NFC West it said: "A division title would look great in Seattle and Arizona, but means little in San Francisco and St. Louis." The Rams did win it that year, but ever since then it's been Seattle and Zona with the division titles.

Barrett Ruud couldn't be signed by the Bucs, neither could Asomugha.

But now, I see the Seahawks couldn't sign Lofa Tatupu. I think he would be a great fit. The Bucs have about 50 million in cap space, and spending some on a veteran linebacker to help with run defense wouldn't be bad at all. The pass defense didn't really NEED a guy like Asomugha, but when you lose your best linebacker, why not replace him with someone better?

According to Nnamdi, the Eagles are not done and still have a few things ready to happen. Not sure exactly how he knows about all of their plans, but whatever. He also said that he left significantly more money on the table with the other teams because he wanted to be an Eagle since day one, and was disappointed when they didn't get involved right away.

Replacing Breaston with Edwards, solid upgrade. Fitzgerald, Edwards, Heap.. would be real good options for Kolb to throw to.

Those would be some nice tools for Kolb to work with, but Cards' running game is almost non-existant and their defense is in absoulte shambles. Still a work in progress.

Tap the brakes on Kolb. After four games as a starter, Andy Reid made AJ Feeley worth MIA's 2nd round pick.

Outside of a draft day trade, getting a veteran QB via trade does not really work. In the last two generations, only a handful have worked out and one of those was temporary:

Favre: ATL to GB

Young: TB to SF

Moon: HOU to MIN

Montana: SF to KC (very temporary)

There's been a few more then that I'd say.

Bledsoe to the Bills I'd say was a success.

Trent Green to the Chiefs. Matt Hasselbeck to Seattle. Mark Brunell to the Jags. Jake Plummer to the Broncos.

Whether or not Kevin Kolb will be any good with Arizona remains to be seen, but I wouldn't completely poo poo the deal just because it was a trade. What Kevin Kolb can do is totally unknown. He got hurt in week one and was never heard from again.

Bledsoe did not make the playoffs. Thus gave them middle to late first round picks.

Green, Brunell, and Plummer while made the playoffs with their new team, did not make the Super Bowl. The expectation was a Super Bowl, hence a failure.

A team should not do a trade to make the playoffs, they trade since they think they are a step away from the Super Bowl and winning it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a minute. The Jags made two Afc championships in their first five seasons. That's a failure for Brunell? I don't think so, Tim. With your logic Dan Marino was a draft bust.

Where did the Jets get all this money?

Mike Tannenbaum is one the best GM's in the game, he finds a way to make things work.

He's also been able to talk key players like Sanchez and Tomlinson into taking pay cuts to sign more talent. Mr. T definitely knows what he's doing.

Agreed. Pittying the fool has really paid off.

Sirius XM NFL Radio is reporting that Randy Moss is announcing his retirement, via his agent.

I'm a little surprised by this move. Is it because nobody wanted him, or nobody wanted to pay him?

I'm thinking both

According to what's been reported (and reading between the lines, from agent-speak), it was essentially both.

Adam Schefter has a bit more on this story...

Thing with guys like Moss is once they lose just a little step, that's it.

I have no doubt he could still play in the NFL and be better then 80% of the wide outs. But nobody is putting up with a headcase if they're only going to be a number two or three receiver.
