Sport
What's with this board and Cleveland fans? It was annoying when it was only the Browns and Cavs, but now it's expanding to baseball too. It's not just the board. They're like this in real life too.Yeah this coming from someone in Columbus...and a Bobcats fan toonow that's a winner!Right. I'm from columbus so I have to deal with cleveland jackholes daily. And I hate Ohio state. I'm not even going to touch on the absurdity of an akron resident and fan looking down on columbus and OU.
Dexter Morgan
Nobody, even ignoring this history, was going to give 7 years to someone who had his injury history. However, this injury sure as hurts that more-so.If Reyes had a healthy season this year I think he would of easily gotten a 7 year deal. Before his 2009 injury riddled season he played 4 straight seasons of 150 games+, from ages 22-25. In 2010 he played in 133 games. 2009 was the only season where he missed a large portion of the season. I think before this season it was unfair to say Reyes was injury prone. I've changed my mind on that now, he's had far too many leg injuries the last 3 seasons.
NJTank
Mets may have also lost Daniel Murphy who is among the NL leaders in Average too. Can some one please send an exorcist to Citi Field. Also I think the Mets medical staff may be the worst in the history of baseball. Maybe if they had better trainers and doctors Reyes can stay healthy. Look at Ike Davis they may have ruined his career they but his walking boot on too tight and may have done permanent damage. Johan may have re-injured his shoulder, Carlos Beltran went to a the Rockies team doctor who told him if he didnt have surgery he would destroy his knee, the Mets objected to the surgery. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

How could he have possibly injured himself that bad on that play with Wright. It doesn't seem possible...
NJTank
He twisted his ankle, which should have only missed a few days, but from what I hear the Mets trainers and doctors screwed up by putting a boot on his foot it created some nerve damage to the ankle and it healed wrong, now he may need micro-fracture of the ankle and its 50-50 he will play again. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
TheClevelandHockey
I remember seeing a rather disturbing collision between two Reds players; did that turn out alright? What really gets me is the "great fan" stuff. It's sad to think of our country as a "Steeler Nation", because that would mean that we're a country of near-sighted inbreds from the mountains that can't speak competent English.Let's go Brownies! You mad because the Tribe is stylin' on you? ESTONES6
How this thread turned into a nice pissing match the last few days. The last road trip, the Indians have played some of their best baseball all year. They could easily be 5-1 or 6-0. But that's why they play the game. The bullpen has been a little shaky as of late... but the offense has been picking up. I don't know about taking Jhonny of Azdrubal. That's pretty bold. Peralta is benefiting from a better all around line up. Look at what he did in Cleveland with a crumby line up? Nothing. Azdrubal is still producing in a decent/below average line up. As for the defense... the reason why Jhonny has less errors is because he doesn't get to half as many balls. I have more range in singing than Peralta has in fielding. Santana has be stroking the ball as of late and the promotions of Kipnis and Chisenhall (probably one of the best baseball names in the last 20 years) has given the offense a shot in the arm.Anyone who thought the Tribe was the 30-15 version of the Indians... they were delusional. They are, and should be, a .500 ball club. They have been terrible the last 2 months, but they have given away a lot of baseball games - which would have kept them at a .500 clip. That's what happens when you are a young team. They are NOT a better TEAM than the Tigers... at least not right now, probably not for the rest of the year. I do think the Indians are where they SHOULD be right. They are about a .500 team, they are playing competitive ball against the upper echelon of teams, they have all the kids up, getting experience. I think this year is what you wanted to see... being in a Division race was just a bonus. They still have a few players who aren't ready to win yet... LaPorta, Santana, Kipnis, and Chisenhall just aren't ready... next year, maybe. They are still healthy Shin Soo Choo and a right handed power bat (Jeff Franceour a.k.a. pipe dream) away from being a serious contender. The starting rotation is a bit of a question still. Masterson is your unquestioned #1. The verdict is still out on Jimenez and his true value (White and Pomz were projected between #1-#3 in the rotation). Will Carrasco ever fulfill his potential? Can Carmona keep his head in one place long enough to be a solid 4 or 5 starter like in his 19 win season? Is Tomlin a 1 year wonder - will team adjust to him once the word is out? Will Jeanmar Gomez ever get over the MLB hump (tears it up in AAA, but can't keep it together in the MLB)? Has David Huff really turned his career around and become a viable 3-5 pitcher from the left side? No team seems to have bigger issues with their medical staff then the Mets do... God, I can only imagine what the conversation was like between the manager and the chief of the medical staff. YessSir32
Looks like Jose Reyes is heading back to the DL, he's getting an MRI on his left hamstring. Injuries are going to hurt his chances of getting a $100 million dollar contract. Carl Crawford got 7 yrs/$142 million, Reyes if healthy, could of easily matched that.NO! My fantasy team will perish. Dexter Morgan
Jorge Posadas Yankee career, possibly his baseball career, is effectively over. With a .681 OPS the Yankees have finally benched him. If he wasn't Jorge Posada he would of been released months ago, but the soon to be 40 year old will likely finish his days with the Yankees riding the pine. The rosters expand in 3 weeks, so I guess they wait it out. It's too bad, because now he can't hit, field, or run. Eric Chavez is DHing tonight, but I suspect Jesus Montero will be up soon. NJTank
Posada had a good career just short of the Hall of Fame in my opinion, its a shame its ending this way, but father time is unbeaten. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
pmoehrin
Posada had a good career just short of the Hall of Fame in my opinion, its a shame its ending this way, but father time is unbeaten.Yeah I'm pretty much in agreement on that assertion.Guys like Simmons, Torre and Wally Schang I'd say had hands down better careers and they are stil waiting. I don't think Posada should even be highly considered. I'd argue he would be the worst catcher in the HOF (a title currently held in my opinion by Rick Ferrell) but I think he'll get alot of consideration. He played for a great team in a big market and is a guy people can point to as never being involved in the steroid scandal. He also never had any off field issues prior to this year. So while he may not have the numbers to warrant a HOF induction he has every other factor possible going in his favor.I don't think he'll get in but it wouldn't shock me if he did.
