That's ridiculous. What's Jason Fox* done to warrant any kind of MVP award? :D

* Had to look up who the Lions' #70 was...

I know we're gonna get a lot of crap because we went 4-0 before going 0-16, but this team is different. They have a defense and a respectable offense. I'm so pumped for week 1.

Not to pop all of the Lions fans bubbles, but look at their schedule. I can't get why everyone thinks they are a playoff team. First 4: @Tampa, Kansas City, @ Minnesota, @ Dallas. Best case I see 2-2. Then Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, @ Denver, I'll be generous and give them 3-1. That's 5-3 for the year. Then @ Chicago, Carolina, Green Bay, @ New Orleans. You can't tell me they're going better than 1-3 there. That's 6-6. Then Minnesota, @ Oakland, San Diego, and @ Green Bay. Once again best case 2-2, 1-3 is more likely. That's 8-8 or 7-9 for the year. You're saying that's enough to get in the playoffs over teams like the Bears, Falcons, Giants, Bucs and Cowboys? Just think about that. I think the Lions have a pretty decent team this year. But let's not give them 10 wins and a playoff berth just yet.

I think the Lions could win against @Tampa, KC, @Minnesota, Chicago, 49ers, Atlanta, @Denver, Carolina, Minnesota, @Oakland, San Diego. That's potentially 11 wins. I don't imagine they will get that many, but 9 or 10 could see them squeek a playoff berth. And for the Lions, a winning, heck even a competetive season, would be something to be pumped about.

Don't forget @Chicago, remember they should've won that

one last year.

1) The play was called correctly by the rule book.

2) The Bears still had 19 seconds left, the greatest return man ever and one of the most accurate kickers in football. Either Detroit squibs it to give better field position or Hester gets a crack at breaking one.

Either way, a win is a win. And I can say with about 95% confidence that the Lions wont get one against the Bears this year.

Again not buying the Lions. I get that they're the sexy pick this year for some reason, but until Matt Stafford can stay healthy and that subpar OLine can protect Staff, Lions won't go anywhere.

IF Stafford can stay healthy, the Lions WILL contend...mark my words. Again...IF #9 can stay healthy. They might make the 'offs, they might not...but they WILL contend...IF Matty boy can stay healthy.

(And if I'm wrong, I'll start looking up grilled crow recipes come the end of January.)

The Lions were in the top five or six last year, in terms of sacks allowed/QB protection.

Yet both times Stafford gets hurt is because of protection issues. Granted that can happen to any Quarterback.

I guess the o-line didn't block well enough on Stafford's 12-second scramble drill vs. the Browns in '09... the only protection issue that happened all of last year was Backus whiffing on Peppers in the first game. Again, look at the 2010 stats: the Lions' offense was top-5 in passes attempted and top-5 in fewest sacks allowed.

This makes me laugh. Good luck coming here on our first Monday Night Football game in 10 years. Did you see how amped the Lions were for the Patriots preseason game... I would be shocked if Cutler leaves town in one piece.

EDIT: I can also guarantee that the crowd will be comparable to the New Orleans-MNF game the year after Katrina, especially if the Lions get off to a good start.

The Lions are easily a wild-card team. Stafford is going to have a breakout year if he is healthy. Suh and Fairley! I would be scared as hell to be the opposing QB. I know the Lions get a bad rap because they went 0-16 but that was years ago. Lions for Super Bowl, just kidding, but seriously they are a playoff team this year.

Anything can happen in this league and I'd like to see the Lions do well, i'll cheer for them every time they're not playing the Packers.

Anyways will the secondary be good enough, will the Linebackers be good enough, sure the DLine is there but you can't depend on stopping the run, and getting to the QB all the time. Offensively they should be able to score, but can they keep the points off the board?

21st in Total Defense, 24th against the Run (Should improve with Fairley)

But of course we hear it all the time oh the Texans are finally going to make the playoffs, yet haven't. I know it's seems like forever since Lion fans have sniffed playoff football and I hope it's this year, but it's a very tough division, and the NFC always seems to play one another very close, so the Lions are going to have to figure out how to win close. Also 4-0 in the Preseason again? Don't want to see what happened last time the Lions were Preseason Champs. ^_^

When did the Bears fire Lovie Smith?

I'm not in the 'Lions are making the playoffs' boat just yet. However, this is the first year in a very long time that I feel like they actually have a decent shot at making some kind of run.

That said, I can't help but get unbelievably excited for this year. It's really a different feeling this year as a Lions' fan.
