That's literally the only red mark on his record so far: His team hasn't won yet. Other than that, Cam Newton's probably off to the best start any rookie QB has ever had.

Yes, ever. Only 2 games, but still...

Rookie QBs are going to get picked off and they're going to lose games. The important thing is that Cam Newton has shown he can play. His numbers are certainly impressive but what I've noticed is how comfortable he looks on the field. Based on what he did yesterday, you'd never guess that he was playing in his second NFL game. This kid has the goods. Yeah, it's only two games. Yeah, he's going to have some bad games. But if I'm a Panthers fan, I'm really excited about the future of my team.

Also, ain't no "probably" about it Flame. According to the stats folks, Newton is off to the best start any rookie QB has ever had. Statistically anyway.

Newton's arm is amazing, but he made some really bad decisions on the field. He'll likely grow out of that, but not every quarterback does. If he can't, then he'll be one of those QBs who put up gaudy numbers but don't win big games.

Okay, I don't see any need to penalize a hard hit by Atlanta. That was a perfectly legal hit, but they want to wimpify the league.

Which hit? Not that scumbag Robinson's?

You don't lead with your helmet. It's really quite simple.

It has nothing top do with "wimpifying" the league. That would imply that using his weapon somehow makes him more manly.

Nick Collins done for the year.

And so it begins, wonder if they throw Woodson at Safety, when Williams comes back, the slot Shields in Woodson's place. Or sign Darren Sharper, that'd be sweet.

Oh boy....

IT'S OK, I DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO WIN THE NFC WEST THIS SEASON EITHER.

If the Seahawks beat the Cardinals in week 3, you might as well print the "Division Champs" shirts for the 49ers...

If the 49ers don't win the division title, I would have my crow barbecued.

As an Oregon homer, it is my duty to anounce that Blount and Stewert did great :P

Oh, and what was that about Cam Newton failing in the NFL?

He hasn't won a game yet... for now... he's a failure...

It truly pains me to agree with spleen, but there's a reason Carolina had the #1 pick, they're not a good team. Its hard to blame those losses on a guy who put up 400+ in each of his first two games

The NFC West reminds me of the 100 meter dash for those afraid of yellow tape.

I have mad respect for Tony Romo now, even though as a Redskins fan I hope he gets crushed under a combined force of Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan on his first play from scrimmage and Jon Kitna has to "rescue" the Cowboys.

But yeah, respect.

Watching Cam Newton's body language toward the end of the game compared to the beginning, I'm reminded a lot of LeBron James.

Anyone else get the same vibe?

I am not a "body language expert". Contact the woman on "The O'Reilly Factor" for that. I do know that he has lost his last two games in two weeks when he only lost one game in the previous two years. He is frustrated he is putting up numbers but not winning. You also did not hear or read his post game comments.

"I'm not the person to sit up here and say, 'Well, we have next time,' " Newton said. "I want to get it right, and I'm going to get it right right now."

As for the 49ers, they're now a part of a group to buy California's Great America, so the shared parking lot their proposed Santa Clara stadium has one issue cleared up.

Didn't think the Rams would call in the Aaron Brooks play in WEEK 2.

You know. I try to believe that the Rams aren't trying to sandbag their way to Los Angeles, but then quarters such as this one happen.

Holy crap! I had no idea Romo not only played through a broken rib, but a punctured lung as well. And after he broke it/punctured his lung, he played flawlessly. If he can keep having great games like he did and Sunday, he will be an elite quarterback. Still, he's one helluva player.

If he keeps injuring internal organs like he did on Sunday, then he will not be playing football, golf or any other sport after 2011.
