NIKE NFL Uniforms

I know Lights Out hates these, but this is the best the Chargers have ever looked.

Sharp, consistent, bold. These were excellent uniforms. What they wear now is a mess.

Agreed. That set was great, as was the throwback powder blue set that was worn the last several years of its existence. The Chargers had two excellent looks to choose from, and instead of going with either of them, they chose "none of the above", threw both uniforms into a blender, tossed in a couple scoops of dog crap, set it to purree and got their current uniforms.

Though that is consistent with Chargers' management. Don't take a firm stand one way or another and fail trying to appease everyone.

The all-white Chargers uniform looks pretty good, until they put their helmets on and the bolts are on different backgrounds. This has the same problem all of the other Charger combinations have (except for all-navy, which to my knowledge hasn't been worn with this current Chargers uniform). If the helmets were navy blue with a yellow/light blue bolt, or if the jerseys and pants just had a the bolt on a white background it'd be a good look, but they insist on housing the bolts in those boxes which means that they're always going to have an inconsistent clash no matter what combo they wear (except for all blue).

I know Lights Out hates these, but this is the best the Chargers have ever looked. Powder blue is overrated.

+1,000,0000

the only thing I would change would be to take a few zig/zags off the pants stripe...I also think a recolored white to powder would be a good alternate look.

i hate to be this guy, i never have been before, but do you think this is a fake jersey?

I'm not too familiar with the new Seahawks jerseys yet.

if it's a fake, it's a REALLY good fake in my opinion. The only gripes I have with it are the nameplate (just looks a tad bit off) and mostly the sleeve numbers look messed up. Looks like the box around the 12 on the neck is too square as well. Also, it's a too-good-to-be-true price. However, the collar looks nice, the front/back numbers look good, and the material looks right.

Can anyone offer any insight?

Definitely fake, the jock tag looks strange and the green triangle with the swoosh inside is strangely shiny.

As for the '90s set, while some on here may feel that powder blue is overrated, navy is THE most overused color in sports.

Furthermore, for the most part, Chargers fans prefer the powder blue or even the Fouts-era royal blue over boring navy. The only people who like navy for the Chargers (besides people on here apparently) are the Spanos family, and they also like Norv Turner - nuff said.

Additionally, those uniforms conjure up memories of some of the darkest moments in Charger history (the Super Bowl ass-whooping, Ryan Leaf, Drew Brees' injury, Marlon freaking McCree).

If the Chargers absolutely HAD to go back to a "traditional" set with boring block numbers, I'd rather it be these uniforms with white facemasks:

However, I'd lighten the shade of powder blue to the one used on the AFL throwbacks to differentiate us somewhat from the Titans, Lions, and Panthers:

Fake. Flywire is way off and sleeve stripes are too close together.

And while we're at it, here's the best the Chargers have ever looked:

@ Lights Out, help me out here, man. Those Alworth pics are their best look but the shade I believe is the original Pacific Blue.

This isn't towards you, 'cause I know you know, but just in general, it baffles me that even most uni freaks either can't or won't differentiate between the anointed, worshipped Powder Blue (that they didn't even wear until 1969) and the original color they really wore for most of the 1960s.

Even the league couldn't get it right for the throwbacks, which were supposedly the '63 uni. Does this (from the Chargers' website btw) look Powder Blue to anyone?

The pic is definitely from '63 'cause it's the only year they wore the "forehead" decal.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Alworth's wearing the 1968-71 uniforms:

Keep in mind that Alworth was a Charger until 1971, so it makes sense that he would have worn these uniforms. Other than the weird non-matching pants bolt, that appears to be closer to the powder blue color that the Titans and Panthers currently wear.

In retrospect, I think the ideal classic Charger look would use the 1973 jerseys, the 1968-71 pants, and the pastel shade of powder blue from the 2000's AFL throwbacks.

Here's a VERY rough draft of my idea:

qHUeO.png

In hindsight, I'm not sure I quite captured the shade of powder blue that I'm looking for, but you get the idea.

I absolutely hate it, but mainly because it breaks my football uniform rule. 2 of the 3 uniform items have to match (helmet, jersey, pants), and if you absolutely insist on not having 2/3 match, the helmet has to be the darkest item of the uniform. I've NEVER seen a uniform combination where the three items were all different and the helmet was the lightest part of the uniform that didn't end up looking completely bush league.

I like it. The only things I might change would be the facemask to powder blue and taking some of the zig zags out of the lightning bolt on the pants to match the lightning bolts on the jersey and helmet.

Slightly disagree. The Patriots silver-white-navy road set, Boston College gold-white-maroon set (not sure if they still wear this or not) look good IMO.

I don't think I've seen a white helmet example that looks good, nor a dark jersey / lighter helmet example.
