There have been some surprising picks so far, but WEEDEN!?

The guy is, literally, older than Aaron Rodgers.

Was wondering why nobody picked him earlier. Looked awesome on game film.

Also huge steal for the Lions to take Reiff at 23.

DeCastro another steal as well.

Taking a 28 year old in the first round makes no god damn sense.

Can someone explain to me, how can a 28 year-old play in Division-1 college ball?

Still had two years of eligibility left after his Baseball career fizzled out if I'm correct.

Weeden isn't the sexy pick, but if you can get 7 solid years out of - which isn't far fetched - it could be a very good pick. When you are a team with so many holes like Browns, these later picks are tough due to all the trading up and maneuvering. When it comes to the Browns, you don't have the luxury of reaching for a player and letting him develop like teams like the Patriots and Steelers do.

I don't think McCoy even has a shot at starting this year. You don't draft 28 year old rookie in the first round to compete for the starting job. It's Weeden's to loose.

As for Dallas, CB Mike Jenkins, who is in his last year of his contract, may be cut or traded as they have just drafted a CB, gave $50M to Carr, and gave $27M to Scandrick (a 3rd corner).

Nope. It means the Cowboys just got better and it means Alan Ball is gone, thank god. We need four good corners in today's NFL. I hope the Cowboys draft a safety and a defensive lineman in this draft. We need some good ones.

Ball is already gone as he is a UFA. His cap number last year was $1.2M.

Jenkins is coming off an major shoulder injury and is in the last year of his contract, which counts about $1.5M on the cap. He changed agents (to Drew Rosenhaus) and he was rebuffed at the GM's Meeting on getting Jenkins an extension. I gave you the contracts for Carr and Scandrik, so slot Claiborne at what Julio Jones signed for last year, 4 years/$16.2M. Plus, they and WAS are going to mediation for that reduction in their cap number.

I didn't know that, but thank goodness. If I were the Cowboys, I'd just wait to see what Jenkins does this year. Let Carr, Claiborne, Jenkins and Scandrick fight for the who gets the starting positions, the nickel and the dime.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

Bears selection of McClellin is...confusing, personally.

It wasn't a bad pick at all. High football IQ, does all the little things, solid tackler.

BTW, I don't know whose draft is the biggest disaster so far - the Browns', or the Chiefs'.

The Rams and Seahawks say hi.

Also DeCastro this low is the type of steal Pittsburgh somehow seem to pull off year in, year out. Dammit.

Let's wait for the second to end before we trot out the images of dead and burning sheep.

So the Browns pick of Trent Richardson was a solid pick. Made good sense and was a need, and he was the best running back available. But that Brandon Weeden pick is just flat out stupid. Weeden is probably going to be a decent QB, but I don't see him ever being just flat out awesome, and he's a HUGE risk due to his age. That pick made absolutely ZERO sense for the Browns. Why are they stockpiling mid range QBs when they have so many other needs? Is this team really that dumb? Is Jon Gruden their coach?

Heck, he's older than Roger Staubach was when he first started, and Staubach had to do a five-year hitch in the Navy first.

Just remember kids just because it didn't work out when the Yankees drafted you 10 years ago, doesn't mean you can't give up your dreams of being drafted by the Browns.

What's the real difference between drafting an NFL-ready 28 year old and drafting a 23 year old who's gonna need a couple of years to become NFL-ready? If you think he's already there, then do it.

up.. when has a QB taken in the first round sat 5 years before starting?
