2013 MLB Logo and Uniform Changes

Well theres one good thing about the helmets this season, the rockies are wearing SOLID purple helmets, so I guess this means the horrible black to purple gradient helmets are gone!

Hmm, I thought I noticed something different about the Rockies helmets in their opening game vs the Brewers. Hopefully this means they'll wear the purple cap more often too.

Are the logos used on the standings page new or have they been around as alts for a while? I feel like it's the latter, but I don't know.

The league logos? Those have been around at going on 15 years. 1999, I think.

While the helmets themselves look cool, the uniform as a whole looks like crap IMO. Its so unbalanced. The only way to fix it is to go away from the White Sox knockoffs.

This is the truth. The Rockies need to just move to a more purple oriented uniform and wear the purple cap more often. Be unique.

Ehh...I think I prefer the pinstripes now that I see those two sets side by side.

At any rate, they have GOT to do something about that chest script...that "COLCORADO" mess ain't working. Hasn't been for years.

The Twins were back in the throwback alts for the second game as well. If this isn't an indication of the direction they're heading in, then I don't know what they're doing.

I don't think it's an indication, I think they're just a terrible organization right now. The completely botched this rebrand from the get-go. The easy fix would be for them to make all wordmarks and numbers on the home and road jerseys navy with red outlines. That way they could dump the throwbacks without the fans really noticing or caring.

The plug may be shameless, but that concept isn't. Lordy that's a mess. Mountain sleeves? The Colorado flag C is too similar to the Cubs' C. And honestly, the wordmarks look oddly similar to my own Rockies concept.

Did the American League and National League logos get updated?

I guess when the Cubs wear their alternate uniforms we'll have some idea.

An updated American League logo is being used at Minute Maid park for the on deck circle. I would hope the Astros would have the updated logo in use as they are the team that Selig moved.

Yes they did.

They also briefly wore a white alternate cap around the same time:

AHA! Now I suddenly remember owning the white-B version of the red cap as a kid... wild. Definitely like the 70s version with the blue B better, though. Not even going to talk about the white cap (is that Flash Gordon?).

Also, I kinda dig the red-paneled cap a few pages back. Had never seen that one before.
