The Giants really went all out on the gold ring ceremony jerseys this year, even using a gold decal on their batting helmets.

It's a really nice touch. I can't remember, for the life of me, if they had gold batting helmet decals in 2010 or not. Anyone remember?

Nice, but they should have gone with the navy-crowned caps with the orange bills. Combined with the navy socks, it gives them the best possible colour balance with what they have.

If they're going to have the navy/orange cap, then yes it should've been the home cap with the all orange as a home alternate (with orange sleeves and socks as well) and the all-navy cap on the road. Otherwise, the navy/orange cap is the one cap that could be removed and they'd be fine with te other two.

I like this for the home set. The orange eliminates many of the issues that people have with these uniforms. If wearing these jerseys with navy caps is drab, then wearing it with orange is bold. The orange alt should add a nice dimension to this set as well.

Hopefully they decide to "own" orange. Miami had a chance last year, but ultimately wore the same basic uni they had been wearing for years: black.

And are the Astros wearing the BP jerseys with the regular navy caps? (Someone said it'd look better with orange, so I assume they aren't wearing the BP caps.) I think the simplicity of the set gives it a chance to last a long time, and the orange gives it the flair it needs to stand out.

White Sox going all out with the Sunday throwbacks. Matching helmets, dugout jackets, graphics, everything.

The helmets were not an exact match. No white panels, white SOX on a blue crown. Same red bill. Cap goes with two white front panels and a blue SOX, just like the first time around.

And whomever was catching for the south siders had red gear, and a mask-and-helmet assembly that consisted of a solid red helmet.

So, let's call it "almost-all-out."

The 80s helmets didn't have a white panel. Only the hats did

Went to the Stros game Friday night. A few things I noticed.

There's not very much gear from the brick and black era in the stands.

Most fans are buying the road hat with the orange bill.

Also the replica orange jerseys don't match the on field jerseys. It sounds weird but the replicas match what the orange jersey looks like in video or in pictures. Very bright. The on field jersey doesn't look bright orange at all, almost pale orange.

Forgot to mention this, but that one helmet only rule the Indians guy was talking about has officially been debunked.

Yeah - I might try to get some feedback from HBT on that one :-)

It's where I sit.

The Astros are wearing their Orange Hats tonight. =]

............WITHOUT matching helmets though. =[

I can't begin to tell you how much that disappoints me. That shiny orange helmet glistening under the lights of the Astrodome was a beautiful sight in the 1970s. Was looking forward to seeing it return.

If you have $10M laying around, Jim Crane will probably let you buy the team orange batting helmets.

Seeing as batting helmets go for about $50 a piece, I'm going to have to ask you to show your work on the $10 mil figure.

It's a shot at the new glorious owner. He took some local criticism about his low payroll, and responded with, "If you want to give me $10M, we'll sign someone." He's cut payroll to $25M and he decided that a BP would be good enough for an alt instead of getting another full blown alt. I'm exactly the opposite of surprised he was too cheap to buy matching orange helmets for Saturdays. Don't be shocked if they show up in Seattle Monday night with all-navy helmets to wear with the orange-brimmed hats.

Astros looking fittingly bush league wearing their BP jerseys during a regular season game... Less than a week with this identity and they're already doing that? Don't they have an orange alt and a blue alt they could still wear?

They announced at the unveiling in November that they'd be wearing them on Sundays. Was hoping they'd ditch that plan by now. And no, there is no blue alt. Just the orange and the BP.

It REEKS of bush-league BS. If you want an navy alt, MAKE A NAVY ALT. Don't pass off the BP as an alt. You know the last team to do that? The Orioles, when they were the jokes of the AL. Act & look like a major league franchise, even if you aren't going to play like it.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

It looked like the catcher's helmet was the solid red one from last year's throwbacks.

I think someone posted a Cardinals Alternate gray concept via video game, but not sure and I wanted to see what the Cardinals alt might look like gray and altered the home alt to this:

That should be the away jersey. The piping makes their jersey look so much better.
