While it doesn't have much green, I think Oregon's sharpest look is the black matte helmets, yellow jersey and black pants.

What's the significance of the 57 decals in that ASU picture?

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Are these matte? And have they always had this version in matte?

When they switched from the Sparky helmet with the single maroon stripe to this they went matte. I have a mini helmet version of that and it looks awesome.

Man, those pictures just made me realize how much better that winged set was than the current.

I much prefer the current set, personally. Much more realistic and part of the uniform.

Realistic? Can you explain what you mean?

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that he means the current feather pattern looks more like how a duck's feathers are layered, and the former half-circle wing pattern wasn't accurate.

I had a feeling that's what he meant. My issue with the new wings is that they feel like someone created a wing pattern, and then used a clipping mask to make it fit in the uniform. The old wings looked like they were intentionally designed to fit that panel of the uniform. Because they were...and it looked so much more polished.

Switch to matte (both the gold and black helmets) was in April 2011.

Honoring former player Emerson Harvey...this was done last season so the picture might be old.

I feel the exact opposite. The 1st gen wings looked like clip art placed on the shoulder to me and the 2nd gen ones look much more real: feather that take the shape of the body.

Yes the older one was robotic wings that almost looked like blades which have since moved to the helmet. They then adopted a more realistic feather pattern for the shoulders but moved the robo wings to the helmet so now you have 2 conflicting elements within the uniform. Ideally the feather jerseys with the O helmets would be the best fit.

That would be too simple for Nikegon.

I noticed we had the MTSU white helmets covered. But what we didn't have (and what took me a bit of searching to find) is the new ALT white helmet, for the Salute to Veterans/Salute to Armed Forces Game.

White-MTSU-Football-Helmet-Stars-Stripes

I know I should...but I don't hate it. Especially as a one off. No worse than the special MLB caps, and pretty well done IMO.

Kind of like the matte black--shouldn't exist, but at least done well.

FWIW, the articles I've seen said that we now have 36 uniform combinations. Yikes.

Also, while the white helmets look nice AND are a throwback to our history...MTSU is just a few yards away from perfection. The silver hats with white or silver-gray pants (when done correctly) and the blue USC tops for home games; the silver hats with the white jerseys and the blue pants. Punt the "blackout" and walk away.

If we have to have a throwback lid, make an entire throwback set (maybe to the 1975 double-helmet Cowboys ripoffs?) and schedule Tennessee Tech again for the "Totem Bowl." Give the old timers something to really enjoy, because between Boots Donnelly's silver buckets and the kiss of consistency from Nike...we've almost got it.

Go Gators. Go Blue Raiders. Go Commodores. Go USC Trojans.

Preds & Avs.

Braves, Rays, & Dodgers.

Titans, Colts, Broncos, Cardinals.

Grizzlies. 14ers, Jam.

Team Spirit + Laziness = Yay.

I had seen this discussed, but not resolved here:

"A new NCAA rule prohibits the use of uniform numbers that fade from one color to another, but Arizona requested and received a one-year waiver on that rule, which will allow the Wildcats to wear this new set."
