Just that they started the current trends that have led to some truly horrific designs. Oregon's success with those trends or their ability to control the crazy themselves isn't really relevant to the fact that they started these trends in the first place. People like to say Oregon is a mess, but they're not. Va tech is a mess, Tulsa s a mess. I think that deserves post of the day.I agree with this, and you also hit on a key point. Sure Oregon is all over the place, but they do it in a way that encompasses their brand and only extends it. Virginia Tech fails miserably trying to do the same thing because they don't have the sophistication to realize that out of the box elements need to tie into the brand, not just be randomly thrown together with an explanation letter from the head coach on why stones and VaTech go hand in hand. Really, you can blame Oregon for kicking off this trend if you want, and you're probably right. But you can't blame Oregon for other colleges lacking insight into their own branding elements. Yet with everyone doing multiple looks, is it killing Oregon's brand? Then again, does anyone even bat an eye at what Oregon wears anymore? To me it's Oregon and their brand has become quite bland. It'd be nice to turn on Oregon and see the same uniforms. If they want to go to the dark green and highlighter yellow, then go with that, but all this changing reminds me of the San Diego Padres, completely confused... and that's not just Oregon, but all teams who can't stick with a regular set of uniforms. I understand the meaning, however, since Oregon State has pretty much put that graphic element on lock down with the "beaver teeth" it seems silly on anything else.
