2013-14 NHL Season: "We Are North American Scum"

I really think that pro leagues like the NHL should adopt the contrasting colours rule for uniforms when it works - it just looks better to have both teams wear their full colours.

While this game looks great I would prefer it if the Leafs wore white as often as possible.

Yeah I agree. If you want color vs. color so long as it doesn't clash, great. I'm all for it.

But some teams do look better in white regardless.

It's really too bad that it's just not feasible to play more than just a small handful of games outdoors (and even then, the handful is stretching things a bit thin) because I wish that more games could be like this.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

to me, less is more when it comes to these outdoor hockey games. Not wild about the NHL's decision to add more outdoor games. Honestly I think it should have stayed at one game in the US (New Years Day) and one game in Canada. However I do realize the NHL would be foolish not to take advantage of the popularity of outdoor games.

I fully support the idea of Blackhawks-Blues in South Bend in 2016.

I'm sorry, but there is NOTHING that looks fun about this Maple Leafs Red Wings game. Everyone in that building looks downright miserable. As fun as it is to watch on TV, I couldn't imagine actually attending a game like this.

If you're having a bad day, remember that John-Michael Liles participated in the pregame skate before the Winter Classic and was traded to Carolina before the game.

And yet the two teams today are two that look better in white.

Anyway, it's gonna be one cold-ass day in hell when I root for a team that has Brown, Backes, Kesler, Shattenkirk, Oshie, Suter, and fatface Kessel. Go Canada. Gooooooo Canada.

Kind of seems fruity to announce the USMNT roster after the game is over and fans begin to leave.

Really?

The term is ambiguous. For this context, it has the same synonym meaning as "weird," "odd," "bizarre" and "questionable." Didn't mean to open up a whole PC-hellgate on here.

How the hell do Blake Wheeler and TJ Oshie get wing spots over Bobby Ryan on the US Olympic roster? Hell, he has more than double the goals and assists that even Dustin Brown has. I don't get how he missed the cut. If it's some argument over the effectiveness on the Olympic sized ice, Bobby has always been more of an outside/space player. He'd probably be a hell of a lot more useful on the big sheet than Wheeler, Oshie, or Brown.

Whatever. Congrats to Cam Fowler for making it. I have no doubts he'll thrive in Sochi.

Amazing Winter Classic. Loved all the visuals. Stadium, snow, jerseys, crowd. The snow made it a little sloppy, but eh, that's the fun of this thing.

It's very good, but not without its poor decisions. Dustin Brown with his 13 points in 40 games had no business whatsoever on this roster. All he's ever done is get his dick sucked for being American; he's the Shane Doan/Eric Staal of the Stars and Stripes. Justin Faulk is only considered elite because he plays for a franchise that can't develop defensemen worth a crap. David Backes is Bryan Bickell with a C on his sweater and having been born in the right country. Canada doesn't have a weakness anywhere but goal, and they're so strong otherwise that all they need is for Price to be good enough.
