The first anniversary was July 4, 1940. So July 4, 2014 is the 75th year since the speech, but only the 74th anniversary.Or think of it like this. The anniversary of the first Super Bowl would have been Super Bowl II. Making Super Bowl 50 the 49th anniversary of the event. Last year, 2013, was 20 years since the Marlins and Rockies first season making it their 20th anniversary.
