Am I the only one that loves the Habs home jerseys but think their away jerseys are bland, uninspired, and that they should go back to the short-lived away jerseys from the mid-40s when they actually matched the home ones?

It won't happen because they have too much history with their standard white jersey (70+ years and counting). And the reverse red was only worn for about 3 years in the 40s. It was pretty much a one-off.

It would make no sense to retire the standard white for the one-off.

Their white jersey now is great, but I would like to see the white with the blue stripe. It could just be wanting what you can't have, though.

YES TAMPA! Get in there.

Feel the pain, Montreal :)

Edit: Oh please let Gudlevskis be the hero and savior of this series for the lightning. It'd be a fantastic story.

Sorry, but that's not happening.

Everything's easier to know in retrospect, I was just going on blind faith.

Full marks to Boston tonight. One of the worst playoff efforts I've ever seen from the Wings. Just flat-out embarrassing.

But hey, at least they're in a more suitable time zone.

That third period? I'm proud of this team. I have a few choice words to say about that penalty that Montreal the late power play, but those complaints are a lot more of a general complaint than a game-specific complaint.

It's just that I would definitely argue that Rene Bourque ramming over Kristers Gudlevskis is much more a penalty than what that late call was on Paquette. And once that penalty was called, it really did feel like the Lightning were finished once and for all. The fact that the GWG scored on a slow trickler was just the perfect way to cap the anguish.

In many ways, that game reminded me of Kristers' Olympic game against Canada, with a valiant effort coming up short via a late goal and resulting in elimination. Poor bastard, he played his ass off tonight.

All told, that the Lightning came back from 3-1 down in the 3rd and made the Habs earn that win after all leaves me very pleased, knowing that, despite being outplayed, they left everything they had left on the ice. They will be better for this in the long run.

But in the short-term, they ended up losing a game in a sweep in the most excruciating way possible. I didn't even know that WAS possible.

Aw, Blue Jackets :(

Yeah, if you ever needed proof that sports isn't fair, just remember that the Yankees lost to the freakin' Diamondbacks six weeks after 9/11.
Aww, yeah that was just so sad that the Yankees couldn't have won their FOURTH straight World Series that year and had to lose to a team that brought their city it's first ever professional sports championship. How tragic.

I know it's the Yankees, but c'mon! Do you remember what it was like back then? It's hard to argue that they weren't the sentimental favorite that year. I didn't necessarily mean my original comment of "fair" as in they deserved to win, but just that when you see a good story like a team with an emotional backstory or a rookie goalie potentially leading his team back from a 3-0 series deficit... something being a feel-good story doesn't make it any more likely to happen.

Edit: The World Series was played in New York City while the WTC was still on fire! C'mon!
