Davidellias
So driving back and forth to work, I pass by the Knoxville Civic Auditorium, home of the Minor League Hockey Knoxville Ice Bears. This building is U-G-L-Y ugly. It was built in 1961 and looked out of date as soon as 1967. It's concrete monstrosity that the picture I am about to show does not do justice too.The building is not that bad from a structural design standpointwhat makes it ugly is the awful patterned concrete on the exterior that has not aged well (both physically, and visually). While that photo really doesn't do the tackyness justice, this Street View probably willWhat in your guys opinion is the ugliest stadium? buzzcut
Target Center looks like it's stuck in late 80's/early 90's. But it is going to be renovated, hopefully, fairly soon. DG_ThenNowForever
White Hart Lane is the ugliest stadium I've seen in person. That's not to say it isn't charming because it is. It's just super ugly. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
sportstar1212
Barclays Center. Rust is ugly... very, very ugly. You know, as much as everyone on here likes to make fun of it, it actually looks pretty cool in person. The pictures don't do it justice. Maybe I'm just a contrarian and/or hipster. Also, agreed on Rogers Centre. It really needs a facelift.
FiddySicks
St. James Park, Newcastle. If you thought Levi's Stadium was badly proportioned, think again. Levi's Stadium is the one for me that makes this list. I remember when it started going up I thought that there was no possible way they could build a stadium that's as gross as Candlestick was towards the end of it's run, but I was wrong. Levi's Stadium is about as lifeless as it gets. It reminds me of a giant office building mixed with one of those oversized high school stadiums that every team in the county uses for its home games. Candlestick was gross, but it at least had some charm. Levi's Stadium is gross and completely lacking of any endearing qualities whatsoever. It doesn't seem as prestigious or "majestic" as an arena in the country's #1 city should be, but it definitely looks cool and different up close. I haven't seen it in person at night though. 2001mark
Rogers Centre AKA the Skydome. Awful. I hate it.Alas, yes. Apparently Shapiro & co. are going to take a sledge hammer to some of it & make it more of a ballpark. I'll believe that when I see it. 1 word: Waterfalls. Give us some Canadianity in there, & knock out some walls while they're at it- bring in more light.Though to be fair, it remains one of the more fun fan experiences. It's quite welcoming, has an exceptional location, & I can put my feet up on a mid week night game in May.MLB: Oakland Coliseum... used to be top 10, now it's bottom feeder.NHL: Barclay's... big 4 with inappropriate seating is invalid.NFL: Soldier Field... good lord what a f'n mess, & for Chicago to have nearly the smallest seating capacity... wtf is that about?NBA: The Palace... yikes. @2001mark
The_Admiral
Because nothing says "Homely, Midwestern Baseball Experience" like a space ship hangarIn defense of Miller Park, the brick and green steel does give it a very Milwaukeean industrial feel. They weren't going for homely and midwestern; that's more Kauffman. Everyone has named the ones I had in mind: Lego Stadium (a top CCSLCism, if you ask me), Barclays Center, the SkyDome, and of course Soldier Field. Yes, the Oakland Coliseum is ugly, but it doesn't aspire to be more than what it is. Soldier Field is an aesthetic and functional failure in every way short of straight-up sinking right into the lake. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
DG_ThenNowForever
Did anyone see the Allen Iverson 30 for 30? I loved it because it was really good, but I was also struck by the exterior shots of the Hampton Coliseum. Some might call this ugly, but this is a pretty beautiful late 60s arena:So maybe I'm posting in the wrong thread. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
Sport
Lego Stadium has the same problem that's always bugged me about Philips Arena and Ford Field - they cram all of the suites onto one side rather than spreading them around the space so it creates this massive wall of suites on one side of the field/court/ice. monkeypower
If you want Lego Stadium, try Max Bell Centre in Calgary. I hate it because there is no pattern to it. Just yellow and red where ever they felt like it.
DarkJourney
Levi's looks more like an erector set to me then a Lego set. But I digress. It sucks. It's in a bad location. The sun is horrible. The airlines hate it. Traffic is bad. The team blows. Jed York is a twerp. Done.
Gothamite
Miller ParkBecause nothing says "Homely, Midwestern Baseball Experience" like a space ship hangarForced to agree. It's not bad from the outside, with the brick and steel, but from the inside its one of the ugliest baseball parks I've ever seen. I hate the lack of depth behind the centerfield fence, which gives the whole place a claustrophobic feel. I hate the fact that the roof looms over the action even when "open". It's a bad park, and I'm glad we're already halfway thorough it's life. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
DelayedPenalty
Joe Louis Arena is an architectural turd. Come in from the parking garage side? Stairs! Tons and tons of stairs! Park down the way along the river and use the other entrance? STAIRS!! The rest is plain, flat, grey, blah. No character whatsoever.
