Sports You Never Cared For

Women's sports. Yeah, I said it.

Bless those that enjoy it, and good on those that participate in it and benefit in the way of scholarships and paychecks. But actually watching the women's game is akin to watching two old people have sex.

Not a fan of WNBA, softball, or women's soccer, but women's tennis is entertaining on its own merits. Generally less of a power game than men's tennis, and has more volleying. Women's Olympic sports are generally entertaining too.

I've never cared for NASCAR, even the few times I've tried to watch it. I'm out of favor with college football, though I understand the appeal. Golf is a snoozer too.

Do you have to be sexually attracted to the athletes to enjoy the sport? That would help explain the essays you've written about Al Jefferson.

Back on topic: women's and college sports (except football, grew up with it). Knowing it's not the sport at its highest level ruins it. Basketball's disparity between levels is especially painful.

I don't like low-stakes hockey. My team would be the Panthers if I cared, and that doesn't help. Hockey playoffs are ridiculously good even though I have no idea what's going on.

Alex Morgan is not a model. She plays soccer for the USWNT.

The Babe of the Week thread was closed for a reason.

Are you gay?

Keepin' it classy.

Anyway sports I don't care for. Basketball and soccer I guess. I'm always able to kinda sorta get into them but they never stick.

I love watching women's college softball in the college world series every year. Those games are exciting and every team has a few cute girls.

I also like watching the US women's soccer team whenever one of their big tournaments rolls around.

I can't stand women's basketball, but that's mostly because it's a worse version of the men's sport that I also don't like.

1. Used to not like hockey, but after watching games like the Winter Classic and SC playoffs, I've become somewhat of a fan

2. Still not really into soccer, but i've gained a new respect for it.

Cricket and golf (unless I'm playing it on the Wii) are probably my least favorite sports. Can't say I'm surprised with all the NASCAR hate though. If only people knew what went into the sport they'd appreciate it more

For me, I can't watch more than 10 minutes of Tennis. Especially annoying since Wimbledon fever has gripped a number of my friends right now. I understand the techniques and tactics and appreciate the physical effort required. It just doesn't interest me as a spectacle.

"...to the uninitiated fan, baseball must be like watching paint dry. Same deal with soccer."

I was never really into baseball at all until I visited some family in Toronto in 2011. Seeing proper TV coverage, not just 10 seconds worth of highlights, as well a live game helped. Seeing the sport how it should be broadcast/viewed and analysed made the difference.

Cricket is a game that is overwhelmingly english to the point I feel my teeth are rotting. I'll stick to my roided up goliaths smashing home runs, thank you.

Cricket serves one purpose nowadays. An excuse for the spectators to binge drink all day. The most British thing of all.

Soccer. I've given it numerous chances but I just can't get into it. To me, it's just a bunch of people kicking a ball around a field until someone accidentally kicks said ball into the net. Yes, soccer is the "most popular sport in the world" blah blah blah but I think it's because, way back when, the world didn't have a lot of other options when it came to sports. I once heard Keith Olbermann say (and I agree with this) "if they invented baseball today, no one would watch it." I feel the same way about soccer.

Like baseball, soccer has the benefit of having a long history and that's what makes it so popular worldwide. Let's be honest, to the casual/uninitiated fan, if there is a sport more boring to watch than baseball, it's gotta be soccer. Baseball is easily my favorite sport, but I'll be the first to admit that to the uninitiated fan, baseball must be like watching paint dry. Same deal with soccer.

I don't think there has been any sport that was created in my lifetime that has caught on and become a major sport.

The only sport I could think of that were created recently that actually have/had a following and I could only think of was Slamball which was popular for a bit ten years ago.

(Before anyone mentions Quidditch I will just say that I tend classify that as cosplay over anything else).

Cricket and golf (unless I'm playing it on the Wii) are probably my least favorite sports. Can't say I'm surprised with all the NASCAR hate though. If only people knew what went into the sport they'd appreciate it more

I feel like every sport has something that goes unnoticed by the masses until people actually take time out to analyze it. That doesn't mean that people will necessarily like it once they understand that fact.

I understand that NASCAR, Indy Car, and Formula 1 drivers have to go through a lot in order to be at the top of their game but I just don't find race car driving to be entertaining. I also don't like a lot of single person sports (tennis, boxing, MMA, etc) because I don't really have any motivation to root for anyone which instantly takes me out of it. Why should I be motivated to root for Nadal over Federer or vice versa?

Motorsports and Golf.

I am consistently baffled by golf's popularity...not playing it, but following it. If football ever falls off a cliff, golf becomes #1 in the US.

Look Alex Morgan is awesome. But is it really worth watching hours of boring soccer and wait for the few minutes they actually show her up close?

Not anything against women's sports but more soccer in general.

Basketball (NBA): For some odd reason, I can't watch the NBA and thats coming from a Louisville fan that watches College Basketball. It may come from the fact the games are nowhere as important as the games in the collegiate level.

NHL: Don't watch the NHL at all for the simple reason that the closest team from Louisville is in Columbus, Ohio.

Soccer: Just cannot watch it.

I haven't, nor will I ever, care for the weak sport of soccer. I can't believe some of my fellow Americans are pretending to be fans. I'm not saying that there aren't serious soccer fans in the U.S. (I am not one, that's for sure), but most Americans would probably fail a quiz on soccer if you give them one. Soccer is a lot of fun to play, but watching it is like watching paint dry.

Soccer. Definitely soccer. Believe me, I've tried to watch. I watched about five games during this World Cup. It's just, to me, very boring. It's like hockey, except across an enormous field, much slower moving, and with much less scoring. No thanks. And I don't mean to insult people who do like it. The canard is that I don't "get it". Well, I've tried to get it. I don't hate soccer, but I sit here shaking my head at people fondling themselves over a goalie stopping a whopping 16 shots over two hours of game time. It's just not for me.

Boxing, to a lesser extent. If a friend mentions that he's buying a PPV, I'll watch. Otherwise, I don't get into it, but that comes more from everything being on PPV and no free content to ever draw me in.

MMA. It's some pretty bad-ass stuff, but I prefer the pageantry of fake fighting instead (wrestling).

Golf and car racing are not sports, but if one considers them such, you can add them to my list.
