Mingjai
Most soccer teams (Sporting KC, Real Madrid)Most soccer teams--even many of those in the MLS--don't follow the American convention of city-plus-nickname naming convention, so I wouldn't expect many soccer teams to have logos representing their nicknames. Stanford and Syracuse have logos that are the respective colors right? Wild have a logo of wilderness which I think works and the Heat has fire. Gothamite
Since "Yankees" is synonymous with "Americans", from being the city's lone representative in the American League, they don't belong on your list either. Chromatic
^^^^^^^^^ Not only does the Orca not represent Canucks' name but totally misrepresents it as well. It's still better than this garbage: I'm betting if they had not went away from the stick-in-rink in the '70s you'd call it untouchable. The only slam against the SIR that I hear is that its "boring", but its no more "boring" than an H inside a C, a Leaf with the team's name written inside, or a B in a circle with spokes. They've just been around since the original 6 days and have prestige associated with them.

That's news to me.Islanders: I know the NY overshadows it, but Long Island is in their logo.Texans: brahma bull, Texan flag...what's the issue here?Astros: apparently the star's not exactly sufficient. Not sure how.Heat: what's not to get...it's a flaming basketball. Fire tends to be hot.Wild: if you see their logo as a bear, those tend to be found in the wild. If you see it as an abstract wilderness scene, that tends to be found in the wild too.Padres: swinging friar, anyone?Miami: isn't their secondary that ibis/hurricane thing? TCutt
I think that one big one would be the Tennessee Titans. All it has is the flames and the sword, no physical representation of what a Titan actually is. I believe in Auburn and love it!                          @RealTCutt                                        Colossians 3:

Chromatic
Two CFL teams fit this trope: The Edmonton Eskimos and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.I'm sure if the Eskimos had a logo depicting their namesake it would be embroiled with controversy. To be honest I'm surprised no one is up in arms over their name already.Anyways, I think the Titans logo represents them well enough. It's got a shield, fire, a big ass "T", what more do you want to depict a team named the Titans? If a shield with an A represents the Argos then the Titans certainly have it down pat.
