and this is even the best one.

they also have an all white  and an all black kit.

what in the world is Hummel doing?

they will sell very few of these!

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️

It's in protest of Qatar's human rights abuses. They are boycotting commercial activities around the World Cup.

Would think someone with a NO ADS avatar might be OK with this.

The insistence on bespoke fonts for every team every cycle reached NBA City-levels of "no good ideas left" long ago. I don't know if that one is worse than the print-shop-chic basic block that the USMNT is using this cycle, but they're two extremes of horrid.

It's insane to me that a basic block font could be considered the opposite extreme of that monstrosity. Block fonts are classic and beloved by the majority on this board in all other sports. Plus, I think a block font works perfect for a US shirt because of how ubiquitous block fonts are with classic American sports aesthetics compared to other countries where custom soccer fonts have been the standard in sports for decades.

The England aways really need navy shorts as the default choice. The bloodclot look doesn't suit them. Also not sure about all the light blue trim... as much as I love a design that successfully omits white, the light blue is maybe too cute and it causes the numbers to clash with the also-bright red. Maybe the numbers need to be navy too.

Harry Kane had the 6 on the front of his shirt and the correct number 9 on the back. The upside down 6 looked better than the 9. I also agree that white or navy shorts would be a better choice, but FIFA seems to like using monochrome kits over the better clash options.

I was thinking the same thing. I really liked the light blue when looking at the shirts in isolation, but when paired with red shirts it feels like overkill. It makes me want some white on the kit.

On one hand they ruined great shirts with monochrome logos but on the other I guess they did that on purpose because they plan to protest against Qatar.

Hummel just confirmed this.

I don't ever recall this happening before, although a tournament like this hasn't happened before either. What has confused me though is that I though FIFA regulations around logos/crests wouldn't allow this to happen. I'm wrong, of course, because they have already worn the shirts, but for an organization that insisted striped teams go with white shorts in 2014, and is known for their high level of micromanaging uniform situations, this seems like something they wouldn't let slide.

I think the recent Puma uniforms and the USA with Nike logos on the sleeves shows that FIFA has been rather flexible with logos, as long as they use the proper FIFA badges on the sleeves.

I'm thinking white shorts with some kind of red, navy, and light blue striping/trim

They’re basically saying that they don’t want to be visible in a tournament that has committed so many human rights violations before the first kickoff, even. I’m good with it. They’re not wrong.

And I think the reason FIFA is being relatively lax about this is because what other choice do they really have at this point? They’re catching a ton of heat from just about everyone for this tournament. Why escalate it even further?

Tunisia home, away and third:

The graphic on the front depicts the Ksour Essef cuirass, an ancient piece of armor that was discovered in Tunisia in 1909 and has been dated to the 3rd century BC. It's been speculated that this breastplate may have been used between 211 and 203 BC in the expeditions of the Second Punic War led by Carthaginian general Hannibal.
