There seems to be a czar within the Jags' organization who demands that this boring combo be worn for 90% of away games.

With the exception this year that they’re regularly going with white socks with it, which would appear to be the only difference from last year’s combo matrix. Strangely it’s the only combo they’ve duplicated through 10 weeks despite only wearing it once before in their history. I mean, it’s a win for contrast I guess but that was never the pressing issue with this uni. Theyve looked good in WBB before, but we all know what’s wrong with the current iteration. This would’ve been a great week to go WTW, but oh well. They’re also starting to get a little tardy as far as announcing a new set for next year, so all we can do now is keep praying.

I'm not disagreeing.  However, in soccer this is done specifically to avoid confusion for the players.

Clashes aren't allowed between shirts, shorts or socks on the theory that players may confuse players from both teams based on similarly colored items of clothing in the mass of legs.   Presumably, no one in football considers matching pants or socks to be an issue on that basis . . . or even helmets, for that matter.

As an aside, my recollection is that the Bills originally switched to red helmets to help Joe Ferguson spot receivers.  At the time four of the  five teams in the AFC East wore white helmets, so at least six games a year matched white helmets.

The Jets changed to green (1978) before the Bills switched to red (1984).

It's where I sit.

I was counting the Bills as one of the 4.  I was thinking it was five out of five, but then I remembered the Jets changed in the late 70s.  Before that, it was five out of five starting in 1971,

EDIT -- Make that "starting in 1970".  I was thinking of SB V being the first one after the merger, but it took place in 1971 after the 1970 season.

Yup - simple words went over my head. 4 of 5 were white, and they made it three of 5.

Denver in white tops/navy pants again? Is one game not enough? The Broncos have been abominable with their play on the field. Now they want to be an abomination with their uniforms.

I want to rail Denver for choosing to wear something so heinously conceived, yet at the same time it doesn’t sit well that Id be arguing in favor of this vice versa.

Why is it that teams always seem to go on these mysterious win streaks in their worst combos? Last year it happened with the Eagles’ black pants and this year the Jets. Plus Bills all-blue. And then teams like the Titans in light blue pants or Pats in silver pants for the first time in years always seem to lose.

It's because the uniform gods hate us.

Good to see the red unis in Munich.

Based on the remaining schedule, I have a hunch the pewters might be worn on MNF against the Saints.  NO is set to wear the Color Rush alts and black helmet that night, so we'll see.

I completely agree. They’ve had horrible luck in red against New Orleans, too.

The only other game in color for them at home is Week 15 vs. the Bengals, which will likely be a red jersey game.

Honestly the black helmet looks like :censored: on the Panthers. It’s disjointed without any silver, the decal itself has a weird texture to it compared to the helmets, and  even though it’s been almost a decade I’m still baffled that they just randomly decided to update that logo and nothing else. And I’m even more baffled that they decided to drop the key line. It looks like such trash. I get what they’re going for with the cat coming out of the shadows or whatever, but their execution of it is always been so miserably lazy. They made such subtle changes to that logo but they were all bad. The original logo isn’t fantastic, but it’s so much better than the current logo.

I forgot how terrible Atlanta’s all-white look is. If ever there were a time to break out the red pants (if they exist), it’s in two weeks at Washington, who will be wearing all-black just like Carolina tonight.

Atlanta's entire look - regardless of combination - needs to be thrown in a burning drum.  I wouldn't even donate their jerseys or pants - just burn them.

To finally use a black helmet and then make the choices they made in execution instead of some very obvious (to me) choices was disappointing. The single color stripes should've matched the shoulders and pants. Why they don't makes no sense. The single color logo with the whole color 10 inches away on the sleeves makes no sense. I know the logo without the keyline has been their brand standard since they redid it and I think it'd be fine if a different team tried the no keyline look, but that logo's details are too thin - it needs a key line!, the matte finish and therein the weird texture of the decals looks worse than gloss. Would've been easier to do a gloss helmet with glossy decals with stripes and logo that match the uniform it's sitting on. They went out of their way to look worse!

Seems like Atlanta’s typical response to the opponent wearing one color is just doing the opposite with white.

We’ll see all white once more
