2022 NFL regular season through Super Bowl LVII

Recommended Posts

The Jaguars and thier fans ought to feel really proud. To go from the hell that was the Urban Meyer micro-era to the 2nd round of the playoffs in only one season? That’s massive. I think they’ll be a very good team for the foreseeable future, and I’d be thrilled with the turnaround and trajectory if I were a Jags fan. Doug Pedersen and Co. has them headed in the right direction.

What is the magic number of titles to complain about a team or player?

I think it's three. After three, you're allowed to openly hate them.

Three sounds about right. But it has to be 3 within a decade. I’d also add the caveat that fans of rival teams can openly hate a team before the 3 title rule.

It was as I figured it'd be, the Jags would play KC tough, but the Chiefs are just better right now (not to mention they don't do dumb crap that costs them games as often as the Chargers do).  Looking forward to what they do next season.

Far as who I want to see holding up the Lombardi in a few weeks among who's left, my heart says the Bills are finally champions, but my head says the Eagles or Chiefs.

It's hard for me to really work up any sort of hatred for KC and it probably will be for a while.

I'm ancient and have been watching the NFL for 50 years, so my hatreds are old, crusty, and covered with decades of rust. I've despised the Cowboys forever, it's like breathing to me. The Steelers. The Packers, although that's mostly a division thing. These are deep, baked in hatreds, I just don't have room for any johnny-come-latelys like the Chiefs.  Hell, for the better part of my entire life the Chiefs were a complete afterthought. It would be like hating the Milwaukee Bucks.

Add to that their nice uniforms, the fact that they don't play anywhere near New York or LA, and that Patrick Mahomes is just plain fun to watch, you're gonna have a hard time convincing me to root against them as long as they're not playing the Vikings.

In fact, the Cowboys are the only team left in  these playoffs that I'd be pissed to see win.

Same here. Guess we'll know more in a few hours.

Oof. Well, at least we can be wrong together on this one 😂

Eagles look very good. I’m really hoping the Niners do what they’re supposed to to tomorrow because Eagles-49ers title game has the potential to be awesome. Eagles Cowboys has the potential to be real stupid. And I would have to root for the Eagles which I would appreciate being able to avoid.

So the dozen-or-so cities in the current Super Bowl rotation will host mini-Super Bowls for the A/NFCCGs. I don't have a problem with that. The same happens in the CFP and have never heard a complaint.

Sounds like you'd be upset with Green Bay being out of the running if this happens. Damn. I guess if that happens, Lambeau will never host another Packers title game loss again.

LOL. Just so we're clear, you're talking about the team that has owned the Bears for the last 30 years? The team that beat its biggest division rival, the other team that's been around forever and been relevant (sorry Cardinals), at THEIR house in the NFC Championship game, when if their coach hadn't been too stupid to lollygag down the field on its final possession of the last regular season game instead of trying for a FG or TD which could have knocked their rivals out of the playoffs? Ok, enough of me poking fun at little brother in the division (oops - now I'm done).

Yep, we crapped the bed against the Bucs in 20 and the Giants in 08 in the Conference Title game. I'll take our success over nearly any other team. nobody has more NFL titles than us.

To my actual point - as a season ticket holder, I have the privilege of sitting in my seats for the playoffs. I check a little box each year when I renew my tickets that says 'yep, if we have a home playoff game (or games), I'm paying for those as well. I get that the league will make more money by selling the rights if this happens. I won't be happy about it. Nor will the season ticket holders at nearly any stadium, least of all the one with a seating capacity of 80,000 (all of which are sold to season ticket holders, by the way).

Maybe we all got a little carried away with the Giants beating a bad Vikings team that we forgot the Giants are also not a very good team. Barring a historic New York comeback, tonight is simply confirming what we've known all season: the NFC only has 3 obviously good teams and their gap to the rest of the conference is quite significant. It's only fitting that one of those three will end up in the Super Bowl.

I have a gut feeling that the Eagles will end up in the Super Bowl regardless of what happens in tomorrow's Cowboys-49ers game.

I personally still think it's the 49ers' conference to lose...but then that means they better not lose to...*them* tomorrow. Should they prevail, and Philadelphia hold, that's gonna prove one heckuva fun matchup to watch. But let's let the weekend play out.

Speaking of the weekend...Bills/Bengals is gonna be a tough one for me, because I'd like to see both teams finally lift the Lombardi before my time is up on earth...it's for their respective cites and their fans. (As a side note, Buffalo and Cincinnati are two of the chillest places you'll ever visit.) That said, if someone forced me to choose between the two, I'm taking Cincinnati. I'd be cool either way, and even more so if either knock off KC en route to the Lombardi.

Speaking of KC...I too join along those of y'all who don't particularly *hate* the Chiefs. Annoyed at times by them? Sure. But I don't *hate* them. The only reason I really get annoyed is because of all their annoying frontrunner bandwagoners all up here through the upper midwest who didn't care anything about them pre-Mahomes. (I've seen this movie before, too...the same thing happened back down home when folk all across the Panhandle and through the deep south acted like they'd been Saints fans all their lives when pre-Brees and Payton, no one outside of southeast Louisiana cared about them.)

49ers are probably the most complete team, but it all depends on Purdy fooling everyone into thinking he's not 3rd string  a rookie.

Bengals/Bills is too close of a game to call. Both are pretty even teams, it's just going to comes down to what defense can outplay the other.   Too bad Bills lost Von Miller, he's exactly the kind of player that would really turn the game in favor of the Bills. With all those O-line injuries Bengals have.

Well, the two weakest teams left in the playoffs both lost today, so overall, today was a positive. Niners-Cowboys and Bengals-Bills should both be fantastic matchups, and all four of those teams are legit good.

Heart says Niners over Cowboys, head says Cowboys over Niners.

No idea on that Bengals Bills game. I would say Bengals going away, but their line issues worry me. Bills by a field goal.

The late Brady era of the patriots were absolutely joyless, plodding, boring, and made football a chore. At least the Chiefs occasionally do cool stuff.

The early Brady era was even worse, when they'd go 14-2 and scream NO ONE BELIEVED IN US

We're going to get a pretty solid final four.  I still want the 49ers - Bills Super Bowl that the Giants screwed me out of in 1990, but I think any Super Bowl match up we get at this point is going to be a good one.
