sacker12
Jays just picked up Lyle Overbay from the Brewers for Dave Bush and Gabe Gross. We there goes our "Bush-League" Pitching Duo...Overbay's decent, but now we gotta trade Hinske, Koskie or Hillenbrand Good, that means I'll hopefully get to see more of Gabe Gross since he's in the NL now. Audiodrama
No way that Red Sox-D'Backs-Angels deal will happen. Absolutely nothing like that has been reported in the Boston press, and it's a stupid trade for the Red Sox anyway.
pcgd
The Cardinals traded pretty much the last guy in their bullpen for Aaron Miles and Larry Bigbie.IE...Ray King is heading to Colorado for a career .290 and a career .260 hitter(s).Excuse me while I wet myself with excitement. They also offered Morris arbitration which basically means, they got a draft pick. Yay.Sanders, Grudz, and Tavarez are officially no longer St. Louis Cardinals.Jays fans might be happy, but this is a pretty weak offseason so far in Redbird country. Also, stupid rumor of Suppan, Marquis, Lambert (prospect), and Weinright (prospect) for Javier Vazquez, Carlos Quentin and another prospect. Don't get me wrong, I like Quentin alot, and if you drop Suppan out of that deal I'll jump for joy. But if it went down as is, that leaves Carpenter, Mulder, Reyes (unproven rookie), Vasquez, and I guess pujols to pitch while Izzy and Brad Thompson will be in the pen. CS85
The Boston Red Sox just signed Tedi Bruschi to a contract originally worth around $4 million, but Bruschi turned it down, offering to play for free. Bruschi will pitch every other day, and also be the closer, he will bat 3rd, as well as do play-by-play. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Moser316
Overbay to Jays: DONUTS! There's our power bat. Ladies and gentlemen, your Toronto Yankees! Overbay? Power bat? I've never heard those two things in the same sentence before. You'll be lucky to get 20-25 HRs out of Overbay, but you will get a high batting average and lots of doubles and RBIs from the 3 spot before his inevitable late-season swoon.I like this trade for the Brewers, but it almost makes me wonder what's going to happen to Geoff Jenkins now that we have three corner outfielders capable of starting in the big leagues (unless they plan on using Gross as a fourth outfielder). I'm a little worried that they think they solved their holes with this deal..I am really not excited with Miles and Cruz replacing Grudz and some combination of Bigbie and J-Rod instead of SandersNow the bullpen is shaky minus King and Taveras

Gradients Kick Butt
Tigers sign Todd Jones. Mixed feelings on this one. He's 37 years old, and has bounced around quite a bit since his first stint in Detroit. Although 40 saves and a 2.10 ERA last year isn't too shabby. Nobody else could nail down the closing spot last year for Detroit, so I guess why not give him a shot at filling the role for a couple years until someone else steps up?Tigers are also close to signing Kenny Rogers. If this goes through, I think we Tigers fans should boycott his home starts.

CZzyzx41
Mark Loretta to Boston for Doug Mirabelli. Straight up.Someone find anything wrong with a starting 2B being traded straight up for a backup catcher? I guess with all their recent free agent luck, they felt they had to mess up one trade to balance things out. .300 avg vs. .240, 80+Ks for projected 150+Ks. I don't know how this trade makes the Padres better. I can clearly see how it makes Boston better. -DanielCheck Out My Podcast! I don't know how this trade makes the Padres better. I can clearly see how it makes Boston better. The Padres have a 2B prospect in the high minors named, IIRC, Josh Barfield. I suspect they're clearing Loretta out so they can promote the kid. And it's likely a salary dump, too.Lots of teams play that game -- you take lesser talent in return if you don't have to pay a guy's salary. If Boston were to trade a guy like Manny, they'd get more talent in exchange if they were willing to pay part of his huge contract. So even tho Loretta is a more productive player than Mirabelli, the Pads are shedding payroll, opening a spot for Barfield, filling the void left by Ramon Hernandez and doing so for a dollar amount less than what they'd have to pay on the FA market. Why couldn't I be a GM? Damn...

CZzyzx41
Great point. Hey! Maybe this freed up some money for us to go out and trade for Dontrelle Willis. I hear he's available. Maybe Dontrelle and their mascot for a couple minor leaguers and the PETCO mascots. -DanielCheck Out My Podcast! VitaminD
Ramon Hernandez reportedly signed 4/27 with the Orioles. ?!So the Orioles dump Fasano and snag an overall serious upgrade behind the plate for a reasonable cost, even though they still have Javy Lopez.Meanwhile, up I-95, the Phillies could've had Hernandez, chose to take the Orioles backup, so he can come to Philly and back up LIEBERTHAL?!?!WTF? "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
