I like this Chargers uni

Nipples are NSFW. Bummer, I know.

By the way, those replicas look far, far worse than the authentics.

Yeah I was just gonna say that. The authentics look wonderful over the pads but the replicas look pretty boring IMO.

Oh, and that pic originally came from this old world cup pic.

BTW, sorry about boobs, but I figured it was already there......

Peyton Manning looks ridiculous wearing a grey Revolution facemask. Gray masks are only OK if the team is still wearing the 2-bar facemask. It's called progress, folks...get used to it!

The Revolution facemask looks ridiculous. The color has nothing to do with it.

People in the 70's thought leisure suits and polyester were progress. People in the 80's thought parachute pants and leather ties were progress. When it comes to fashion progress is relative

No. I'm going to disagree a bit here. This is progress in technology moreso than fashion. The technology was a clear plastic facemask and then some big gray metal welded together. Technology allowed them to color-code it and make it a piece of the uniform. Fashion styles come and go, that I'm not disputing. Other things upgrade. You didn't type your post on your Apple Computer running DOS off of those record-sized floppy disks did you? No. You're not thinking of getting one as a throwback are you? No. You upgraded and didn't look back.

As a matter of fact I did type my post on my Apple II. :D

You make a valid argument regarding the technical side of facemasks but the point remains that fashion is not technology. I have heard that there is no hard data that says Revolution helmets provide any better protection than regular helmets. So in the end all we have is a fugly helmet that may or may not be better protection. The jury is still out on whether or not the Revolution helmet is an upgrade.

As far gray facemasks go, they work on some unis and not on others. I think the Chargers would be better off sticking with blue facemasks.

I watched the 3 minute video on the Chargers' site, and stared at this picture for a while, yet I don't see the curvy "from the back" stripe on the pants. Am I blind (or just stupid?)

See the side view of rivers? How the bolt is almost an "S" shape? I think that is what they are refering to.

I love both blue jerseys...I'm not crazy about the whites. But rivers wears his jersey's a little different than most players so it could be a fit thing rather than a look thing. Plus 17 rarely looks good on anyone. (IMO)

Do they have 3 pairs of pants?

Yeah, I see the curvy bolt. From the descriptions, I thought the actual stripe was curved or otherwise uniquely shaped.

I also thought I read that the bolts would be starting from the back, near the butt - maybe that was just people's speculation I was reading though.

Also, it appears that they DO have three sets of pants.

I know I'm in the minority, but overall I see this as a downgrade. The powder blue trim against the yellow bolt just isn't aesthetically pleasing. I think the bolt should have been white, then trimmed in powder blue and then yellow.

And although I've always been a fan of the Navy (one of the first teams to get it right), the best of the new set is the powder blue jersey combo.

After a few looks, I'm still convinced that the bolt should be by itself on the navy jersey without the white stripe (not the mention they should have kept the helmet navy blue).

I'm glad navy is still the dominant blue in the colour set.

I saw, I came, I left.

The more I look at these new Chargers' uniforms, the less impressed I become with this makeover.

First and foremost, I'm not a fan of the Yellow lightning bolt. I'd have opted for a White bolt outlined in Powder Blue outlined in Yellow. Further, I'd have eliminated the White shoulder panels on the Home jersey sleeves and simply placed the White/Powder Blue/Yellow bolts directly on the Navy Blue background. White/Powder Blue/Yellow bolts could have been placed in narrower Navy Blue stripes down the sides of White home pants legs.

On the White road jerseys, White/Powder Blue/Yellow bolts would be contained in Navy Blue shoulder panels. For some reason, I don't find dark shoulder/containment stripes on White jerseys as off-putting as White stripes on dark jerseys. White/Powder Blue/Yellow bolts would be placed directly on the legs on all-Navy Blue road pants. As it is now, the wide White stripes on the Chargers new Navy Blue pants look ridiculous.

And please... get rid of the new "S-curve" lightning bolt on the pants legs. It looks absolutely horrible.

Both home and road uniforms would have been topped by Navy Blue helmets with White/Powder Blue/Yellow lightning bolts.

Finally, unless the team was going to make a move to new Powder Blue jerseys full-time at home, I see no reason to stray from using a true throwback in Powder Blue a couple of times a year. Such a move would allow a true throwback helmet - in White - to be used with said jerseys... and not necessitate the move to a White helmet full-time.

Simply put, the Chargers tried to please too many constituencies amongst the fan-base and within front-office while designing these updated uniforms. The result is a uniform that doesn't quite come together.

I agree. this is a total downgrade overall. Those shoulder stripes are flat out stupid looking. The only "upgrade" I see is the white helmet. That would have looked great with the old set. My favorite part of the powder blues was always the helmet. The rest of this "upgrade" is just typical "modernization" bull :censored:, i.e. uglier than hell.

There's a reason blue pinstriped suits never go out of style and leisure suits are laughed at today. Just look at the "updated" NFL uniforms vs. the classics. Tell me the Falcons will still be wearing those abominations they call uniforms 10 years from now or the Vikings or the Bengals. Today's "updates" are tomorrow's clown suits. Welcome to the the NFL's modern day version of MLB in the 70's and 80's.

not to nit pick, but i am going to miss the blue pants, I am not sold with the bolt in the white stripe. i thought the current blue pants were unique.

These new navy pants are HIDEOUS.

What was wrong with the solid lightning bolt on the old pants? It was original and looked fresh.

That wide-a** white stripe looks ridiculous. Why is it so big? It looks like something you might wear in the Pro Bowl. They might as well burn those babies and just wear the white pants with both sets of uniforms.

All this just to get some powder blue into the uniform? Its not like they are the only team in the NFL with powder blue? To see how it has been done right, see the Titans uniforms.
