Pirate
No I did understand. Your saying they wanted two helmets. Like Seattle, but your statement was that one would still be a throwback, not an updated alt. Throwbacks are allowed.I'm not calling 5...4...3...2...1's statement BS, that writer is BS. If he really is a sportswriter in SD he should know why this happened because the team releases a PR message weeks in advance of the unveiling. This is just crazy speculation and discredits true journalism. He needs to get his facts straight.
lost_limey
Overall, I liek the upgrade, but I want to see all the numbers before confirming that. the 2, 1 & 7 all look good, but I'm interested in the 4 & 8.
In 5..4..3..2..1
Whatever but it gives us a reason why the helmets are white. It proves that navy was the original plan for the helmet . White is a compromise.BTW the more I look at these the more I like them. I just wish they would have kept it consistant all around with the bolts on a white background. Shroinke
I don't think this has been covered in the, wow, 15 pages of posts so far on the topic:Don't teams have to wait a certain number of seasons before they can introduce an alternate jersey (like in the NBA), or can teams produce an alt at the same time as new home and road uniforms?I remember the Texans waiting a season before they released their red alt.But the Falcons' re-design came with both red and black home uniforms that they switched as home and alt after a year.Or does the NFL not even have a "rule" on the matter? I just wish they would have kept it consistant all around with the bolts on a white background. The bolt thing is a HUGE problem for me. How can you have a bolt treated with one color scheme on the helmet and then another just inches away on the shoulder. It's the downfall of the uni and a rather substantial oversight on the designers/marketers/owners part. Design Hovie Studios
LMU
It seems like I'm the only one here who sees that the shoulder bolts aren't really upside down. The reason that they're positioned the way they are is so that they appear to wrap around the shoulders instead of looking looking like they were arbitrarily slapped on. Good move there. In 5..4..3..2..1
Actually the bolts use to be like that on their original AFL unis. It maybe a tribute to those.

Sec19Row53
Quick easy solution to the bolt color problem... always on whiteJust say no to two-toned sleeves!I thought Pantone commented on a graphic where the bolt was outlined in white when presented on a navy background. Or I'm remembering it wrong. It's where I sit.
Hat Boy
It seems like I'm the only one here who sees that the shoulder bolts aren't really upside down. The reason that they're positioned the way they are is so that they appear to wrap around the shoulders instead of looking looking like they were arbitrarily slapped on. Good move there.I agree that the bolts are not "upside down," but it is the old bolts that wrapped around the shoulder and the new ones are slapped on. The new bolt is one continuous bolt. The old bolt was more like two bolts coming from a common focal point. Look at the shoulder of the guy blocking on the left. You have the large piece on the bottome (right above the #2) and it zig-zags upward to both the front and back of the jersey. By the way, these are the best Charger uniforms ever. In 5..4..3..2..1
What is even weirder is they did put a white stripe on the navy pants , so the bolt there is surrounded by white. So the bolts are inconsistant on the away set as well
oldschoolvikings
OK, I'm glad someone else finally said it. How the hell are the bolts "upside down"? They're LIGHTNING BOLTS!!! Do you use a left-handed pencil, too? I don't get it. http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
