He played like crap in New York because he wanted to play for the Vikings!!! You could just tell it.

HA!

Do you think Minnesota still makes the playoffs if Favre gets traded to the Vikes? They could use a half-decent QB you know...

They would have made the playoffs because Favre would have wanted to play for us.

Funny though, all the newspapers in Minnesota were hinting that Favre would be traded to the Vikings and that "a trade to Minnesota is the only way to end the Packers' headache". Wow, I wish I could slap the guy that wrote that.

1/27/09- It was me, and I am sorry.

So...he just...played like he normally does over the past 5 years (not counting 2007) for the Jets...and you think the Jets missed the playoffs because he wanted to play for the Vikings?! I fail to see your logic.

Brett was distant from teammates in GB as well, at least in the later years. He spoke about having little in common with younger players a few years back.

He didn't want to play for the Vikings so much as it was the best situation for playing against Thompson and McCarthy to prove them wrong. Not only was it a similar offense, but domes provide the warmth his old bones need to function in winter. No matter. I'm sure his lack of passion for the Vikes would have reared its ugly head soon enough.

Regardless of if he wanted to go there or not, I'll bet you Tampa Bay makes the playoffs if he had been shipped there.

You know Favre is tough as nails, and if the Bucs had a quarterback who could actually take a hit, they'd have won at least one more game than they did with Garcia or whatever backups they used after he went down.

I'll never forgive Brett for making me recognize how many stupid people live in Wisconsin. A good chunk of the Badger State STILL thinks the same kind of "leadership" that's causing his Jet teammates to toss Jesu... I mean... Favre to the wolves is why the Packers didn't make the playoffs.

Aaron Rodgers has my utmost sympathy. Despite four years of sitting behind a selfish whinebag who did NOTHING to mentor him and playing with a defense that hemmoraged away every 4th quarter lead he gave them, he still had one of the most ridiculously stellar debut seasons in NFL history.

no bones about it. anybody who thinks the Packers would have done any differently if Favre was under center instead of Rodgers is a damn fool. It's not like Rodgers got hurt and they had to thrust Flynn or *shudder* Brohm out there. Can't say the same for the defense, but if you lose that many key defenders, you're gonna struggle to sustain good D. Hell, the Pack's last saving grace was that the Lions traded Roy Williams away...I mean, the D looked tired in the 4th too many times to count.

I pretty much feel the same way, and I've spent the last few seasons showering the Packers in quiet contempt (though most of that was because of Farve).

He's turned the NFL into his own personal circus. He's like the giant advertising monsters from The Simpsons. Our best bet is to just ignore him.

I will say one thing in defense of those Wisconsinites who still are convinced Brett Favre would've gotten them to the playoffs. I watched nearly every Packers game this season and there were a TON of games they lost by 4 or less points. From what I remember, Favre was/is one of the best QBs in the league in close games like that. Also, there were a ton of times where Rodgers would toss a ball up and JUST miss his target where I would think to myself, Brett probably would've made that throw. No knock on Rodgers at all, he was put into a terrible situation and did fantastic, I have all the respect in the world for him. I also feel that even with Brett the Pack would still miss the playoffs, but I still have to wonder just how many games out they would've been.

I'm gonna say it. I have no problem with Favre. Actually I am a big fan. I believe he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

I think people who say he is a bad player don't know anything about what makes a good player and quarterback mechanics.

Think about it. If you don't like him as a person that's fine. But as a player you can't honestly say he is bad. Favre didn't have his best year. But looking at him mechanically he is still there. He makes his throws with precision and brings a winning attitude to a team. The only part of the game you could knock him is the interceptions. And when your talking about interceptions your usually talking about mental mistakes not physical ones. If he wasn't playing for an inept offensive coordinator many of those wouldn't have happened.

I played quarterback for six years and I know a lot about QB play. I have spoke to many expert coaches and former pro players about what makes a good player. That is where I get the knowledge to make my argument. So lets hear the bashing.

When Brett has played for as long as he has, he should know not to make those throws. Theres no way you can blame the coordinator.
