Sorry, I'm from Texas. I played in plenty of games on turf where the temperature was over 130 and it wasn't that big a deal. I just figured if schools don't here weren't worried about it, schools in Mary-land wouldn't be either. Guess I was wrong.

You're the manliest man of them all. Concussions weren't that big of a deal either. I think every school is now worried about the lawsuit that comes from heat stroke, you know, ever since players dropped dead because of it.

Anybody die of heat stroke in Maryland? Football is for tough guys. Wimps can buy a ticket to watch.

I'm really not sure if this is satire, but just in case...I'm sure Korey Stringer was just a big ol' wimp when he died of heat stroke in Minnesota. But Minnesota is so cold, and so far north, and starts with M! No way someone could die of heatstroke there.

Some of you guys are just nuts. I played football. I follow football very close at every level. I follow football safety. I helped write the law in Texas about how to handle concussions for high school athletes.

But putting turf in a stadium that is 10 degrees color in a state like Maryland isn't going to make one bit of difference IMO.

No, we're just not obsessed with the macho man culture that football is consumed by. Juinior Seau just killed himself because he had brain damage from football. I know this isn't heat related, but it shows that this "Be a man" thinking is what's getting people killed.

Why you make fun of me? I make concept for Auburn champions and you make fun of me. I cry tears.
Chopping off the dicks of Filipino boys and embracing causes that promote bigotry =/= strong moral character.

You're assuming that's why he killed himself. You have no clue why he did and no one will. People assume that they know why people commit suicide and yet they never really have an answer. For all we know, something in his past could've been haunting him. He could've come in contact with the wrong people who for years were threatening him. You don't know why he did what he did, so be smart and don't assume you know a thing about why he did what he did. And for all we know, he could've been a drug addict. You don't know a thing about the man, so don't say you know anything.

Did you also walk to school, 5 miles, in the snow, uphill, both ways?

Are you currently taking wagers as to whether you can throw a football over them mountains?

Probably in the summer time when they're training players so they won't overheat.

StarTrekFacePalm.gif

Ever heard of practice fields?

I've mean't just before the game.

So by summer I assume you mean September and by training I assume you mean warm ups. In my mind, once football season rolls around, it's the fall.

I'm not so sure I necessarily agree with your last point. I've been to Maryland, and while it's not scorching, in the months close to summer it can still get pretty damn warm. And turf fields usually only exasperate that issue. The last college I went to was an absolute powerhouse at the Juco level for football due mostly to just that. It got to well over 100 degrees (Sacramento area) during the first few weeks and they played on a turf field with no lights. I've seen it come close to 130 degrees on the field and the teams they played (mostly Bay Area teams) would lose because their players would start dropping like flies around the middle of the third quarter because they simply hadn't trained for that type of extreme heat. And these weren't just random high school teams, either. These were some of the most highly trained athletes in their level of football. In fact, we beat San Francisco City College in the home opener one year right after they had knocked us out of the playoffs and went on to win the California state title. They just ran out of gas and three of their players ended up in the hospital due to heat exhaustion.

If they really have found a way to cool down turf fields, I'm all for the change. Turf fields, no matter where you are, can be absolutely miserable in the sun.

You obviously do think it was a big deal or you wouldn't have brought it up to use for your macho example.

Some folks are forgetting that the DC area was also a swamp originally and still retains the weather aspects of that.

The current law? Or did you help write the 1970 law when "suck it up :censored:" was still the popular phrase?

In the latest draft, this was amended to "Oh, stop being such a little bitch", for sake of clarity.
