And Lincecum gives up a two run homer to the second hitter of the game. Anyone wanna give me one of those pencils?

Edit: and he gives up another one. WTF?

It's those new road jerseys, man. The placket piping screwed everything up. Haha.

And is Lincecum's hair longer than usual? Or am I just seeing things?

(Aside: That first inning did wonders for my fantasy team. Thank you Young and Goldschmidt.)

I'm actually kinda warming up to the new roadies. They made the sleeve and pants piping thicker (at least it appears that way) so it's a good mesh of the previous road unis and the Will Clark era roadies. Still like the old roads better, but these aren't awful. And yeah Lincecum's hair does look longer.

Ahh, I can't even tell you how much I missed being disgusted with the Giants :P

I was a fan of the Mirado Black Warrior myself. Mostly because it sounded like a brand of lacrosse sticks and not a pencil.

Anyways, going to the Reds-Marlins game tomorrow and I'm pumped. My authentic Reds jersey is going to get a workout this year.

"Batting third for the Angels... Number five... First baseman... ALBERT PUJOLS!"

:D

...and his first at bat is a line-out double play. Ah what the hell. ALBERT PUJOLS!

EDIT: And an error in his second inning of work. This is starting out well.

If you can't sell out Opening :censored:ing Night, :censored: you.

I'm not saying you have to sell out a mid-June game hosting the goddamn Astros, but if hosting the defending champions on Opening Night can't sell out the brand new $500M taxpayer extorted stadium, then it wasn't the old :censored:ing stadium, it's a :censored:ty fanbase.

The Marlins weren't selling any additional tickets. You couldn't buy tickets from the team if you didn't win tickets in the Opening Night lottery. There were upwards of at least 50,000 people (can't remember the exact number) who entered the lottery to get two tickets.

I believe that the empty seats were single seats or the über expensive seats that can only be purchased as part of a season ticket plan. But remember, a game can be a sell-out if full capacity has not been reached granted the remaining seats are single seats.

Yep.

83,000 people registered for the lottery that determined 1,000 winners for the opportunity to purchase about 1,500 tickets. 81 and 40 game plan holders were given an opportunity to purchase 2 additional OD tickets per account.

The Marlins also had a Select-A-Seat on Saturday so that tells you right there they still had seats that weren't released to the public on a single game basis.

They have about 14,500 season ticket holders for 2012 (want to get to 15,000) which is good enough for top 10 in baseball. This from an organization that ranked 119th in professional baseball last year.

What's funny is that a friend of mine commented as the attendance was announced that people would freak out and he was right.

When did Fox Sports set up a station in San Deigo?

Just this year. The Padres own a 20% stake in the network. Their first game was March 17th with a Padres Spring Training game. Right now, it's basically Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket with the Angels/Dodgers swapped out for the Padres. They show Clippers/Ducks/Kings/Chivas games (No Lakers or Galaxy though. I'd assume just Clippers because of their old San Diego days and just Chivas because of the proximity to Mexico.). They're looking into getting the rights for the San Diego area college teams (USD, UCSD, SDSU and even USC/UCLA).

I only write because I'm in school. During summer, I don't write for 10 weeks, and in September, my handwriting is all big, fat, and all-over-the-place. It's actually kind of interesting to flip through my notebooks and see how it evolves over a 10-month course from not having written in 2 months to writing every day for 10.

Back on topic, by averaging out his salary to number of at-bats, Albert Pujols has made roughly twice what the average US teacher will make in a year as of now. I still can't believe that they'll pay him $30M when he's 41. Have fun LA!

Mechanical Pencils are the worst.

Yes they are. I hate those damned things. The lead always breaks. They're a pain in the ass.

People still write?

Yes, believe it or not some people do find it easier to write crap down instead of rely on a frail, easily lost/broken/stolen one stop life shop device for all their living needs.

No kidding. I find it baffling that people are so willing to put so much faith into a gadget. Granted, those gadgets are pretty cool, but I'm not about to rely on something that you can play Angry Birds on as the only place I store important information. I'll stick to writing notes on a calendar or in my notebook.

On topic: Who Bruce Chen and his 83 mph fastball shutting down that Angels lineup for six innings?

Angels win 5-0! Pujols goes 0-3, with a walk, Aybar with a clutch 3 RBI triple, Weaver goes 8, 9 K's.... LIGHT THAT BABY UP!

Even when Pujols has an off night, he's still very dangerous. The offense seems much better than last year, already. Morales is back, and his at-bats today were pretty good even though he only got 1 hit. He had a nice long out to right center that would've been a homer during a day game. I'm not sold on Wells yet, but it seems like he is more confident. Trumbo had a pretty tough night at 3rd, but it was his first game at 3rd since like high school, so it will take time. Weaver was brilliant, and looks like an early Cy Young candidate.

It's getting pretty exciting in Anaheim! B)

Kerry Wood needs to just take his inevitable CSN-Chicago job and stop playing baseball professionally.
