McCall
If Michael Young waives his 10/5 NTC, he'll be traded to the Phillies for Josh Lindblom and a minor leaguerI hope not. In this day in age, it's great to see a class act franchise player stay with the same team throughout his career. Just had Chipper finish, would love to see Young do the same. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall
Kramerica Industries
Michael Young being a true class act is a media fabrication. He demanded a trade prior to 2009 when the Rangers told him Elvis Andrus would take over at SS, pushing Young to 3B. He rescinded, but that's hardly being a team player. Furthermore, I feel like Young demanded a trade at another point in time since then (can't remember, but I'm guessing it was after the Rangers signed Beltre). I can't even imagine why Philly wants him. Young's bat was flaccid last year. Guy looked done to me.

They want him because they need a 3rd baseman, and there is always the chance that a change could do him well. Also he's low risk since tex would pay most of his salary and he's only signed for a year. Also... there's the possibility (just spitballing here) that he is delaying his decision because maybe he wants to see what Hamilton does. The Phillies are definitely working on him, but only want to go 3 years. If Young waives, it could be an indicator. Or not. In this day in age, it's great to see a class act franchise player stay with the same team throughout his career. Just had Chipper finish, would love to see Young do the same. There's just one big difference between the two and that's playing time. Chipper's starting job in Atlanta was never in danger. He didn't play as much towards the end of his career but that was solely due to age and injury.Michael Young has no guarantee from the Rangers that they will use him in any role beyond coming off the bench.I would be pretty surprised if he decides to stay on a team that doesn't want him, or at the very least has other needs they would like to fill, and even more surprised the Phillies went after him. I know they're trying to make one last run at things, but this comes off as them grasping at straws. Your bringing in a guy who's 36 years old to play the hot corner and is coming off his worst year offensively. It doesn't seem like something that has a high probability of working out. zpqmaowl
Dodgers sign Greinke for $147 million over six years. What the actual ? $24.7MM per year? Enjoy paying Kershaw $32MM per when his contract is up. the worst helmets design to me is the Jacksonville jaguars hamlets from 1995 to 2012 because you can't see the logo vary wall
FiddySicks
As a Giants fan, that one really makes me smile. The Dodgers are showing once again that despite all of the money they have to spend, they still have NO idea what they're doing. Kramerica Industries
After they added Greinke, the Angels had a rotation of Weaver, Wilson, Greinke, Haren, and Santana. And, now, only the first two of those pitchers remain. The heart and soul of the team is gone, too.As far as the Dodgers go, all the more power to them. It's a refreshing change-of-pace after they had basically no usable assets the previous few seasons with the messy McCourt situation (and, previously, NewsCorp), and those guys have plenty of money to spend. This doesn't make them better than the Giants, but if they wish to become the Yankees of the west coast, then let it be.
zpqmaowl
I really don't see how anyone outside of San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, or Phoenix could think that this signing is good. the worst helmets design to me is the Jacksonville jaguars hamlets from 1995 to 2012 because you can't see the logo vary wall
Lights Out
I'm sorry, but this is just ridiculous. Never mind competitive balance, baseball needs a salary cap to save idiotic big-market teams like the Dodgers and Red Sox from themselves. The heart and soul of the team is gone, too.Haren and Santana were statistically two of the worst starters in the American League, so they won't be missed, but I'm not sure about Hanson and Blanton though, as they aren't exactly great pitchers either (Hanson's velocity is declining and Blanton has never been a very good pitcher). I wish the Angels would've gone after one of Sanchez, Lohse, Jackson, or even Brandon McCarthy, instead of Joe Blanton though. We'll see... Kramerica Industries
Yes, but Haren and Santana were both expected to be pretty good pitchers. The Angels were smart not to go so high on Greinke, but they probably also had no choice. They've already got the massive Wells' and Pujols' weighing them down.

The heart and soul of the team is gone, too.So Haren, Santana and Geinke were the heart and soul of the team? Not Weaver, their best pitcher? Not Trout, not only their best young guy but their best overall player? Or what about Trumbo or even Pujols (well maybe not so much him yet)? Aybar?Out of those pitchers that left, only Santana had somewhat of a connection to the "heart and soul" of the Angels. With the other two, Haren pitched there for what was really just an average 2-1/2 years and Greinke was there for not even 2-1/2 months. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall

zpqmaowl
Dodgers, Ryu Hyun-jin reach $36M agreement.Ryu's contract is for $36 million over six seasons. If he pitches 750 or more innings over the first five years of the contract, he can opt out of the sixth year. He received a $5 million signing bonus and can earn up to $1 million annually in performance bonuses. the worst helmets design to me is the Jacksonville jaguars hamlets from 1995 to 2012 because you can't see the logo vary wall

There was no b*ch*ng when the Yankees did all this, or the Red Sox, or the Phillies, or the Cubs. But when it's the Dodgers trying to improve themselves...Signing the big names like Greinke and getting your own TV network has been baseball economics for over the last 30 years, and yet we're villified for finally catching up to the curve??? I could have said "east-coast bias," but at this rate, it's just the simple hatred for all things-LA everyone seems to run on.I especially detest Yahoo's assertion that it's the Dodgers' fault that there's an inequality gap in MLB between the haves and have-nots. Sure, OK, so over the last 10-15 years, everyone in baseball was all peaceful with equal revenue and the Yanks and Red Sox magically got better because of training (and not for having the fattest wallet to buy free-agents).
