I've been looking for one for years and they plan on wearing it again this year.I visited the Padres shop at Petco Park and was told that if they have them they will not go on sale until the day of the game, which is July 12. MLB Shop has not been very consistent in selling the PCL jerseys in their shop, so you may have to call them for a special order if they have them. I believe they are supposed to be wearing the 1948 jerseys. I did notice they had the 1948 PCL jerseys for sale in kids sizes while I was there. What I am really looking for is the cap - a navy blue cap with a red "S". I have the Ebbetts Field Flannels version, which was black and orange, but I'd like to get a New Era version, even if it is supposedly the wrong color. EFF insists the true colors that season was black and orange - they claimed to have examined an actual uniform from that season. Everyone had assumed the colors were blue and red but EFF says it is incorrect. I talked to Bill Swank, a San Diego sports historian who has written several books on San Diego baseball history, and he thinks EFF is mistaken and the colors were blue and red. I remember someone in my family wearing one as I was in Milwaukee for a 4th of July celebration in either 2000 or 2001, I can't remember.I'm pretty sure there was a stars & stripes fashion cap prior to the league-wide 4th of July caps.
