The Los Angeles offense is impossibly bad.

The Sharks are at 0,0,1,1 non shootout goals, not far behind them. 2-1 this year against the Hawks is great, but does it really count if both the wins are shootouts?

I don't know. I pontificated a while ago if the Blues would still win the season series over the 'Hawks even they finished with a 3-2 record with two wins via shootout, while the 'Hawks two wins were of the regulation variety (six points earned each). The ROW tiebreak would favor Chicago despite having lost three of the five games.

Well, substitute the Blues with the Sharks and there you have this situation.

Excellent game, though. I was fairly pleased with what I was watching.

Leafs are on a 9-2 streak, and Kessel is playing out of his mind. 23 points in his last 16 games, a hat trick last night, and he's now second in league goal-scoring.

Side note, but the Oilers have what, like five players from the 2012 Toronto Marlies? Scrivens, Hamilton, Acton, Fraser, Eakins. Hmm.

Ryan. He's with the Barons right now, but he was up with you guys for a few games this year.

This Red Wings/Caps game is awesome.

It's for 8th place!

Your Kings were an 8th seed once....

Well, if Sutter continues this "Binary Digit Offense," they might be in 8th place again but not even qualify because of the whole "mixed-division, wildcard" format.

Okay.....Your comment was "It's for 8th place!" as if it the game didn't matter. Your team won a Stanley Cup as an 8th seed less than two years ago so there's that.

There's also the fact that the Capitals have a lot of talent for a team with their record and it's interesting watching them battle through their struggles and the Red Wings are trying not to snap a 127 year playoff streak, which they dangerously close to doing. So you can trivialize it if you want, but there was a lot at stake for both teams in that game even if they're not cup contenders at the moment.

Well it wasn't really a knock of how these teams were playing for 8th as if "these teams were an embarrassment and playing just to qualify for the postseason." But with the mood of players mostly about the upcoming Olympic break, vital points were up for grabs, and who knows? Maybe this game was the boost needed to propel for the final 5-6 weeks of the season after the Sochi games end.

And 127 years? What were the Red Wings playing for in the days before the Stanley Cup?

You make no sense, but whatever.

It was an exaggeration because it's been a very long time since they last missed the playoffs. Didn't think I'd have to explain that.

wait, they have a playoff streak that is longer than the entire existence of the Montreal Canadiens? Or are we giving the wings gratuitous playoff appearances for the dead wing eras?

We may have lost tonight, but I think we're seeing the return of the Anderson.

3-1-2 (With one relief) in his last seven games, but he's a .937 S% and a 2.33 GAA to boot with a shutout in there.

If the sens can get some more offense together, we might grab some more games in the final quarter to push us into a wild-card spot.

Sharks call up Pleasanton native, Matt Tennyson. Demers and Kennedy still sidelined with injuries. I thought Stalock might get the start tonight and maybe Friday vs Columbus, but it looks like Niemi will get the start against the Flyers. I wonder if that means Stalock will get the next two starts to give Niemi a rest before the Olympics. Heck, I'd be okay with Stalock playing the remaining three games before the break, but that might be a little too much rest for Nemo.
