nuordr
First the Seahawks, second the Jaguars and now the Pro Bowl....ladies and gentlemen it is going downhill fast from this point! MellowTheMyth
It's just the Pro Bowl. I feel like if this is where Nike is going to go crazy, let them. It's a meaningless game that is just for fun. Let them have crazy uniforms. It'll be an interesting thing year from year to see what Nike will come up with. They have no reason to be red/blue because it's not NFC vs AFC anymore. But its still an NFL game not the Nike Bowl. Red and blue should still be the dominant colorsWith the way the NFL is trying to streamline everything, I'm surprised they didn't try for silver plain uniforms to match the atrocious AFC, NFC, and Pro Bowl trophies. FiddySicks
Well, I totally expected them to go this route. They're not bad, but they're just kinda meh. They're team Nike vs team Nike 2.0. Coulda made it more NFL themed. It would've been cool to see one team in throwbacks that resemble the Dayton Triangles or Canton Bulldogs or something like that, crazy old striping patterns (on the modern template, of course) and all with the leather looking HGI helmets. then the other team could be in ULTRA futuristic uniforms with chrome helmets and, hell, even mini LED lights that blink on contact or something ridiculous like that. That would've been way more creative and it would've given people a great look at how companies like Nike and HGI can produce both newer crazy styles, but also how they can get so accurate on older looks as well. And really, people. It's just the Pro Bowl. I'm a big supporter of the game while most on here just bash it into the floor for being irrelevant. But you CAN'T go from one minute saying the game is meaningless and should be cancelled because you haven't bothered watching a minute of any Pro Bowl since 1987, to freaking out at these uniforms the next and claiming it's ruining the aesthetics of football. I don't know what ratings it gets, but I am sure it gets more viewers than any MLB/NBA/NHL game all year because it's pro football. So regardless of whether I watch the game (I usually put in a few minutes), my uni-geekness still compels me to have an opinion on the uniforms. And mine is that they are not too good in a vacuum, they look like Nike billboards, and worst of all they don't represent the league at all. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." ESTONES6
There is no way I group these with the Jaguars uniforms. The Jaguars was/is an unmitigated disaster. These uniforms actually have style and some grace ot them... they just added a crazy Nike color. I wouldnt even put these with the Seahawks uniforms, since those really aren't that bad either except for the wack sublimated pattern stripe on the helmet.Let's not forge that the Nike-fied Vikings uniforms are almost perfect, except for one brain fart with the right side numbers. The Dolphins uniforms aren't terrible either. The new logo is a massive upgrade. Sure, they minimized orange for emphasis on the light and dark teal colors... which may not even be a mistake seeing that multiple teams use orange in the NFL as a primary color. Not to mention, Nike and the NFL accomplished what they set out to do. People are talking about the Pro Bowl on October 8th. Usually people don't even talk about the Pro Bowl until a week before. But its still an NFL game not the Nike Bowl. Red and blue should still be the dominant colorsWhy? When I watch the Packers play the Browns I don't see red/blue anywhere. Because it's an NFL game doesn't mean it has to be red vs blue. This pro bowl is not AFC vs NFC, therefore the colors don't HAVE to be red and blue. Like I said if Nike wants to go crazy for the pro bowl, let them. It's a fun little game that means nothing. Adidas does it for NBA. And you can say "well theres blue vs red" but they still are West vs East. And adidas slaps those damn three stripes all over those uniforms. So if Volt and Orange are "nike styles" then those three stripes are by far "adidas styles." Let em go crazy for this game. Adds a little to it for the young pups and every year now people will wonder what nike will do next with these.

TheOldRoman
A little while back we had a Nike employee posting on this site (remember, he got himself in a bit of trouble over classified info?), and I had asked him why Nike seemed to be pushing monochrome designs as the primary look. He said that wasn't true, that Nike just provided options and that the teams were choosing monochrome.Bull. When given control, monochrome football uniforms are obviously Nike's first choice. Soon, the average NFL team will look like your local highschool... a solid color from head to toe. Funny how monochrome in the NFL is seemingly sacrilege, yet in the NBA, MLB, and some NHL teams it's the standard. FUNNY HOW BASEBALL PLAYERS WEAR HATS YET HOCKEY PLAYERS WEAR SKATES. TruColor
I received the color palette(s) for these unis a couple of weeks ago and was surprised by them...but it all makes sense now that I see the uniforms in all their glory.I'll post the official color schemes later on... uk-owns-iu
I won't watch it until it goes back to NFC AFC but it also doesn't help that these jerseys are FUGLY. And that's all I really can say about them.
shaydre1019
I like that they're experimenting with different color sock bottoms. The standard white was good and provided for a clean look when everyone wore white shoes, but now with team color cleats being more common, and black making a comeback, it may be worth taking another look at that rule.Although I do Ike the white bottom socks for the most part(and much prefer it to solid socks like the lions wear with throwbacks sometimes, which looks very high schoolish to me), I like the solid colored crew sock/matching cleats look. Especially with white tights underneath. I remember seeing Ohio state wearing it back in the Ted gina days and thought it was the coolest look. I dressed like that a few times in high school and still really like that look. I like these. They're really pretty conservative, design wise, especially when compared to many pro bowls of the past. Personally I really like the color combinations they used. There's no conference division now, so theres no need to use red and blue.
hbgoo1975
Nike has officially unveiled the new uniforms for the Pro Bowl... The Red, white and blue are gone in favor of gray, lime green and highlighter orange.Source: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/nike-unveils-pro-bowl-uniforms-140802629--nfl.html(Yes, I know this is being discussed in the NFL thread, but something this drastic usually warrants a separate thread.)Awful. j'villejags
This is a last-gasp joint effort from Nike and the NFL to breathe life into this game that has been on life-support and I personally don't have a problem with it. wonderbread
does anyone else notice that it is the new template that is used by oregon, usc, ect... with the "chain mail mesh" that doesn't change colors as bad as the sweat boxes that the NFL currently uses. Does this mean it will be moving to the NFL soon too.

I am also hoping to see if this Flywire is legit or just BS. One thing I have noticed in the NFL and in College is how bad the shirts get crinkled up around the tops of the letters. I would like to see this Flywire do what it says and it get applied to other parts of the uniforms. We all know that. But it's still the NFL putting on an NFL event. And, presumably, some people will watch it, so they should try to look like the NFL. But the NFL green lights it...it's their business, but I kinda wish they'd say "you have our uniform contract, but the uniforms are not Nike billboards."The Pro Bowl has always been bad, but they sure are finding way to make it worse. White vs. Gray does not have the contrast we are used to. And since (Correct me if I am wrong) they are going to an NHL-style "draft players to create completely random teams", who is who is even murkier. I look forward to a QB throwing a pick to a Lions D-back because he thinks it's Calvin Johnson. As an aside, there is nothing I hate more than these drafts to decide all-star teams. vmd9
Wouldn't be surprised if the color options change every year. Think about it. How many red AFC Tom Brady jerseys do people need? Chances are they don't sell many. This year it's white/orange and next year they have the ability to make it any color they want. It's going to be tough for people to get used to. But I'm sure the NFL and Nike will do everything they can to sell jerseys. At first I hated it. But in perspective this is the Pro Bowl. Does it really matter?
