And this kind of astute analysis is exactly why the rest of the country hates the self proclaimed best dang fanbase in the land, with their holier-than-thou classy attitude supporting their scrappy little team of overachievers that are always the underdog despite their albatross of a top-ten payroll and their second most titles in history.

It's called having fun. Perhaps the Cardinal Way should drop the stick up one's ass component.

And the truth of the matter is that we're now all losers because now we get Buck and McCarver having a Cardinals love fest one more time.

Yeah because one person on the internet speaks for an entire fanbase. We are not "self-proclaimed" anymore than any other fanbase. Yeah the media says it a lot, and maybe one can say there's something to it, but it's still all opinion. Anybody can have one. Just about any player says it about their own fanbase, save for Miami and Tampa Bay... and Chris Perez.

I for one loved it. Found it quite amusing. I give it to Kelly though. At least he stayed out at the edge of the grass, aswear Van Slyke was at the edge of the dugout. ;)

The Tim Tebows of major league baseball*

Besides, we all know who the real winner was tonight:

This is exactly why I cannot stand the Dodgers. They are a bunch of classless douchebags led by the amazing, young, attitud -of-an angry toddler right fielder, who do crap like this and feel the need to show up their opponents or the umpires on a daily basis. Joe Kelly waits for the last player to leave the field every night, just what he does, he doesn't mean anything by it and I had never even noticed it until last night, because he doesn't make a show out of it. Then the Dodgers decide to do this because they are grasping for anything they can win and show everybody how cool and awesome they are by laughing and cheering, in an elimination game?, when Kelly finally goes to the dugout at the umpire's request, and guess who remains standing there on the field. The Dodgers will never have World Series rings and the success they want when this kind of behavior is encouraged. However, justice was served when the Cardinals put it to them last night and the superstar Puig had two errors and made a fool out of himself yet again.

Figured I would get a response like that from someone, and let me tell you that "the rest of the country" might be a bit of an oversatement on your part. I have every right to dislike the way the Dodgers conduct themselves just the same as you have the right to dislike the Cardinals and their fans. That's fine it's just baseball, but I'm pretty tired of all of this unrelenting Cardinals hate. They are a well run ball club that knows how to judge and manage talent and they have a team full of high character players who come to play hard every single day. I'm not going to dispute that the Dodgers play hard every single day, because I'm sure they do. I just do not care for the way they conduct themselves at all while they are doing it. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that I am from rural Illinois and the values and lifestyle of people in this part of the country are different from fans in LA. and the other urban areas.

Also, when have the Cardinals been the underdog this postseason? They had the best record in the league during the regular season have had one of the best offenses all season and their pitching is solid as well. I don't really think everyone thinks they will lose, it's just that lots of people hope they will lose.

I am just so sick and tired of all of the negative woe is me crap, cuz Cardinals. They are good and I am lucky enough have grown up as a fan of the team. Sorry for being a Cardinals fan and having an opinion on the Dodgers?

Dodgers to be eliminated soon....espn must be crushed

I can understand the Cardinals Hate Train (heck, I'm on board that locomotive), but can we please quit making crappy comments on how such-and-such matchup is terrible for ESPN (or FOX or NBC or whomever) because some "small market" team wins? It is the worst.

I never understood people's obsession over what matchups they think networks will prefer. "Pirates versus Indians? The FOX executives are gonna hate this lol derrr" Who the hell cares what the networks want?

If this did ever materialize, FOX would then run sap stories between a team whose fans have endured 20+ years of sucking (Pirates) against a team who looks to end a city-wide curse of horrible luck among all its teams (Indians).

A match up FOX executives would hate? Mariners vs. Padres.

I didn't realize there was a wrong way and The Cardinal Way to stand on the field after the national anthem has ended. Good grief.

And this isn't exactly a long-standing Joe Kelly tradition. He's only been doing it a couple of games. And if you're going to have a silly ritual like that (and if you're just Joe freaking Kelly) you should expect someone to call you out on it. Everyone (including Kelly himself) got a kick out of the standoff.

Being the last man standing after the anthem has become a thing for Kelly, who says he's been doing it for the past few games, but wasn't sure if anyone on the Dodgers had noticed. Van Slyke was just the first guy to challenge him. "He probably saw me and was, like, ‘All right, I’m going to beat him today.’ " Kelly said. "I just stood there the whole time."

...

"It’s a kids game, it’s baseball," Kelly said. "You’re supposed to have fun. You take it serious, you start to get gray hairs. There’s a time to turn it on and off and I thought it was pretty funny."

Grand slam!

While I'm happy for Red Sox fans, this proves once again why Victorino is the most hated player in my baseball watching life.

He terrorized the Dodgers as a Phillie, didn't do squat as a Dodger (always believed he tanked to get out of playing here), and is now doing wonders in Boston.

That being said, these Red Sox are a lot more lovable than the Cardinals, should that be the World Series matchup, and here's approval of them, from me, to take St. Louis out.

I say this fully aware of the fact that 2004 haunts me to this day, and will haunt me regardless of how many titles (if any titles) the Yankees win for the rest of my lifetime, but I could honestly make the case that 2013 has been the worst season in the history of baseball.

The worst.

There was a show with Wendie Malick and a couple other people about ten years ago. What was the name of that again? Oh, that's right - Just Shoot Me.

So either St. Louis or Boston will win three World Series titles in the last decade. And there's also the Giants who have won two as well. So much for parity.

I like this match up though. Isn't it pretty uncommon to see the two #1 seeds in the league both in the World Series?
