Best case scenario:

Giants sweep the Dodgers in the NLCS, A's do the same to Anaheim in the ALDS. Both meet in the World Series, I drop out of college and use the rest of my federal grant money on a ticket to the Bay Area and World Series tickets.

Funniest thing EVER:

Giants play the Cardinals in the NLCS again.

Realistic pick:

Nats over Angels in 6.

Worst thing ever:

Dodgers vs Angels World Series.

Absolute f*****g NIGHTMARE:

Dodgers. Just, Dodgers.

Wow, screw you all! Just kidding. :)

I'm surprised at the amount of people actually taking Detroit over Baltimore. While the Angels will be a tough team to beat in the ALCS (I do think they'll get there), everyone overlooks the O's. They have probably the best hitting in the Majors combined with great defensive presence. Their pitching staff isn't stacked with aces, but they've proven to get the job done. Not to mention even with injuries they still find ways to win. Detroit has weakened greatly, especially during the last quarter of the season. That's my opinion, I take Orioles in 4. End rant.

But, my preferences for teams to take the World Series are:

10.) Cardinals

9.) Tigers

8.) Nationals

7.) Pirates

6.) Dodgers

5.) Angels

4.) Athletics

3.) Giants (They're Richmond's MLB affiliate)

2.) Royals

1.) Orioles (Because it's been too damn long!)

All in all, I wish all the teams luck. But, not too much. :P

The most runs any team scored in baseball this season was from Anaheim. They scored 773 runs (4.77 R/G).

Back in 2000, 773 runs would've only been good for 22nd in MLB.

I'm not a "HOME RUNS" slobber-knobber, but the evaporation of offense in baseball is depressing.

Yes and no.

Yes it's more depressing because the games are more boring and I worry about the hitters remaining stagnant at their current ability while pitchers have a higher ceiling and continue to get better and better. I worry about a future where it becomes nearly impossible to hit a baseball.

No it's not depressing because the "smaller" baseball does a better job of leveling the playing field for the small markets.

Plus your talking about 2000 where a lot of that offense was created through cheating. I would rather have a fair and competitive game than have a bunch of fake looking steroid freaks waving bats looking like toothpicks.

I've gotten into pretty heated arguments with guys at work who want steroids to be ALLOWED in baseball because it would be more exciting. Just ridiculous.

What, you want them to lower the mound... again?

Can't remember the last time I was OK with any team in the playoffs winning the World Series. Yes, even the Cardinals. I'm one of the few around here who isn't a Cardinals fan but doesn't hate the Cardinals. Anyway, in order of preference...

AL:

Angels - They're one of my favorite teams. The "experts" who predicted this team would be awful this year look pretty silly now. An Angels WS win would make those experts look even sillier.

Royals - If you're not rooting for the Royals, you don't have a soul and you probably hate puppies and kittens too.

Orioles - Great uniforms, great tradition (if you're old enough to remember it.) It's nice to see the O's back in the mix.

Tigers - Great ballpark, great uniforms. I don't like the Tigers as much as I used to, but I still think they're OK.

A's - It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to see the 944 diehard A's fans be rewarded with a WS title. But that doesn't mean I want to see it.

NL:

Pirates - One of my favorite teams because, God's honest truth, I was watching them during opening week back in 2009 and I felt sorry for them.

Giants - Back in the day, I really liked the Giants. Then Barry Bonds came along and ruined them for me. Bonds is gone and the Giants are back on my top 5 list.

Nationals - I'd rather be typing Expos in this slot but the Nats are pretty cool too.

Cardinals - I suppose I could lie and say that watching this place lose it's mind has nothing to with why I'd be OK with a Cards WS win. But it does.

Dodgers - Vin Scully could be calling a World Series game. If it happens, enjoy it because it's not going to happen too many more times.

Okay I'll bite. What's the deal with all the Cardinals hate this post season? I always got the imprssion that St Louis is/was one of the most respected franchises in MLB.

With that said, game 5 of the 2012 NLDS (Nats/Cards) did get me in the feels just a little bit.

Have you not been in these threads over the last few years?

I'm a Nationals fan so this is only my second venture into to anything MLB post season related. After the Nats were eliminated in 2012, I stopped following the thread for that year.

That explains it. Typically I rant and rave in here about how despicable the Cardinals are as a franchise, like some sort of fly-encircled street corner loon. Over the years a few fellows have joined me in the sun in recognizing that the Cards are basically the baseball antichrist. It's fun.
