Yeah, I'm not getting the matte love either. Fad.

What matte fad? I can't name any teams off the top of my head that use a matte helmet

I think he's referring to the matte nike pants. I think most, if not all Nike schools that have unveiled uniforms lately have matte pants now. I think it all started the Miami Hurricanes back in 2004

I don't think it has as much to do with being the "in" thing to do. It may have something to do with the new materials that Nike are making that Pro Combat pants out of now. It might not be possible to make the material shinier. I don't know anything about fabrics though, so I may be wrong. Just a guess.

You are probably right. As for my Bulldogs, me and my cousin noticed at G-Day that our pants didn't look matte anymore. We unveiled matte pants back in 2005, which look wheat sometimes depending on the light. People havn't been fans. The G-Day pants looked shiny though.

Here is a pic. Can anyone tell a difference? I know lighting is diff...any Nike schools who have gone FROM MATTE to Shiny?

If you watch the G-Day video, here: http://www.georgiadogs.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=8800&KEY=&DB_OEM_ID=8800&DB_LANG=C&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT= you can definitely see a difference.

I bet they were wearing practice pants. Often, practice pants are old game pants. Translation: matte pants are here to stay.

Well I remembered Georgia's G logo being on the side stripes of the pants back in the early 2000s...but I double checked and in 2004 it appears they moved it to the front right leg...so you are probably right.

from what I remember a few teams that initally went to the nike matte pants switched back to the shiny pants the following season...michigan, uga, and florida come to mind though I do believe florida went back to matte...at this point I think nearly 100% of nike schools are matte pants usc, colorado, washington, ohio state, fla state and quite a few others...I especially hate the metallic colors that go matte because it clashes so badly with the helmet...reminds me of the 70's...gold becomes tan/khaki and silver goes to gray...bleh.

Cincinnati is either getting new uniforms or a new cut designed by adidas. I have also heard rumors of red helmet, and red pants.

Any word if Cinncy is keeping the White helmet from the bowl game as an opition too?

Not sure about the white helemets , they might use them for the white out game but that would likely be it. They didn't bring much luck when they wore them last year.

That Oregon helmet is the coolest helmet I've ever seen. It's crazy how people hate Oregon for pushing the uniform envelope. I love everything they do. I find myself wondering every Friday night, "I wonder what Oregon is going to wear tomorrow?" Go Ducks.

The first look at Arkansas' switch to Nike has arrived. In a statement released my the university, it said that Nike will provide two uniforms with four combinations, so there will be no third jersey for Arkansas (as it should be, IMO). Here is the default conference home set (team wore red on red for OOC games last year).

There was also a video of the photo shoot that shows the pants. http://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=6100&id=708425&DB_MENU_ID=&SPSID=30726&SPID=2419&DB_OEM_ID=6100

As a Hog fan, I have to say that the uniforms are simply okay. They are a lot better than the Adidas trainwrecks we've had the past couple of seasons but still far from the amazingness of the DMAC years.

Are they gonna put black trim around the helmet hog, too? Because having the two logos not match sucks.

I like that look for Arkansas. first time we saw that underarm piece colored the way we have done on our pro combat concepts.

Arkansas are the Razorbacks--their uniforms don't need to be Oklahoma rip offs. I always feel they need something sleek and sharp, and the black isn't too much

It's nothing remarkable, but it sure beats the hell out of those wraparound-tusk abominations they wore with Adidas. Also, is it just me, or is that front number unusually small?

Yeah, I think the Pro Combat template forces the numbers to be quite a bit smaller, because those side panels are so thick.

Not just you. The little chest/abdomen section of fabric on the Pro Combat template is pretty tiny so fitting the Arkansas scripts in there with the numbers seems to limit their size. ASU wears the same sleeve piped version of the temp and you can see the same mini-type effect on theirs.

I would guess that it due to the fact that "TEXAS" has fewer letters than "ARIZONA STATE" and "ARKANSAS", making it easier to fit due to it not being too wide to fit on the slim-cut jersey.

Also, I think that the new Arkansas set sucks. I hate the black facemask.
