My guess (unless I'm proven wrong, because it's possible I missed an official change) is that the blue and gold is still their official primary, they just don't use it anymore unless they have to, such as with official draft caps. They have talent on D (Aaron Donald especially) and an excellent young running back in Gurley, but unless the O-line and receiving corps suddenly turn into elite or near-elite units this will be a mediocre-to-bad team.
