No argument that he's a bad ump, but calling for him to be terminated from life, while obviously hyperbole (I think), still isn't a great look. You're more creative than that.

You're right - I should be able to come up with some creative torturing for him.  I don't actually want permanent harm to happen to him (or any sports figure).  He should be terminated from his job, then have his eyelids taped open and be forced to watch the 2003 Detroit Tigers season recap video while being kicked in the nuts.

That's fair.

Baseball is so back. I must I admit I was wrong about many of these changes a few years ago when they were proposed. I had a very enjoyable time watching baseball this weekend and it wasn't just nice that the games ended sooner, it was nice that the actual pacing during the games was better. Things moved. Didn't realize how much we needed this.

Here's your semi-regular report on our beloved Cincinnati Reds aka the Redport: Started 2-1. Good outings from all three of the sophomore starting pitchers. We knew Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo would be good, but really excited for Graham Ashcraft as the kind of surprise stud starter.

They're 2-1, which means they need to win two games out of the next 22 to beat last year's 3-22 start and I feel pretty good about that. Craziest part about the 3-22 start is they opened the season with a 2-2 series split against Atlanta, which means they won 1 game out of the next 21. For me that's the rock bottom moment for the rebuild. I don't expect them to make the playoffs or anything outlandish, but it would be nice if they're not eliminated by Tax Day.

Nah he still ruined October with that stupid extra WC that allowed a mediocre Phillies team to make it

That is correct.  It's a shame that neither the Cardinals, Braves, nor Cardinals could beat a mediocre team.

Manfred... saved baseball? :censored:. I need to hate him

Nah he’s still garbage. The thing about a broken clock being right twice a day.

Wait... I missed their second series?

There wasn't much to miss - you don't remember?  After the Padres said they were afraid to play in Philadelphia, Manfred decided that the BFiB deserved a second chance so he put them in the NLCS, but they literally threw in the towel in the 7th inning of game 1 after Schwarber hit his 5th HR and the Phillies took a 31-2 lead.  But since it was a forfeit, the final score was only 1-0, and it's the only NLCS in history to end 1-0.

Since the game ended so early, the Cardinals bus wasn't ready, and they had to hang out outside the stadium and try to get Ubers, which is nearly impossible after Phillies games, so they took the subway and only 22 of the 26 players have been accounted for.

(obviously meant the Padres... but the above story would have been more interesting.)

OMG the Yankees PC Richards whistle is SO FREAKING ANNOYING.  How do Yankees fans tolerate this?  Every single strikeout is pure agony.  It's legitimately aggravatingly  annoying.

Even worse, the Yankees do it at Spring Training games.  There's no P.C. Richard's within 1000 miles of here and I still have to hear that damn jingle.

Thursdays Phillies Home Opener against the Reds has been postponed to Friday due to impending weather. The Reds finale today with the Cubs was postponed due to weather as well. That'll be made up in a doubleheader in September. Two days off now for the Reds.

Down on the farm tonight, the Reds AA club, Chattanooga Lookouts were No Hit by the Angels AA club, Rocket City Trash Pandas. The Trash Pandas lost 7-5 though. All 7 runs came in the same inning off of 5 walks, 4 hit batters, an error and a wild pitch.

That “impending weather” turned out to be a picture-perfect 80-degree sunny day.

The rescheduled date of Friday was a chilly-windy-cloudy 55 degree day.  Sure glad they made that decision 😂 and ruined half of people’s plans.

Was reading about the impact of the new scheduling when it comes to rainouts, and they really can’t have any since teams don’t visit each other as much anymore so doing it on a future off day when they’re back in town, or a future double header just won’t work in most cases.

Also, the home team controls rainouts for division-games only… through the midpoint of the season. MLB controls everything else - 85% of the games. So expect to sit through a lot of delays, and players will be playing in poor conditions because of the new format.
