MLB 2009

I'm not really a fan of the road jersey, but I must say it looks better being worn than just the MLB shop ones. The 'Orioles' script on the side looks bad and doesn't make any sense being there. The 'Baltimore' script is okay, but nothing special. The more i see the Maryland patch, the more I like it though.

Any time a team opts to put the city on the front of the uniform, it's a good day. Now if we can just get the Phillies, Angels, Rays, Cardinals, and Brewers on board...

- Rays and Brewers would be easy to accomplish. Tampa Bay has hinted that they may add it to the aways next season. Why Milwaukee hasn't, even when they've had the damn script made, is beyond me. No excuse for them.

- Cardinals and Phillies are a little more complicated. "St. Louis" with the birds on the bat looks awkward on a jersey due to how short the word is and how far the bat goes beyond either end of the word. Philadelphia is a very long word and as seen on the prototype pic, looks rather odd in full script on the front of a jersey.

- Angels... well that's just a confusing scenario going on there. They're officially "Los Angeles" (of Anaheim, of course), but mainly in title only, at least to appease those who didn't want it to be LA. So it's probably just best they leave it with only Angels at the moment.

I agree, the Brewers have no reason not to go to it. I have also heard about the Tampa Bay situation.

I know that if the Phillies attempted it with their current script, it would not look good. I have the same concept picture. I think the blue outline on the number looks worse than the Philadelphia script though, to be honest.

I think St. Louis can be done in a way that will look good. Some time and effort would have to go into it, which some MLB teams lack (see Nationals) I think the birds could perch on the wordmark itself and not a bat...but it would not be consistant with the Cardinals script.

As far as the Angels, I know they had Anaheim on the jerseys before the name change, and as soon as the change occured they went to just Angels. It is as confusing to me as everyone else, and more and more I hear people refer to them as simply the LA Angels, which is what they are going to end up being anyway. When and if it becomes official, I can see LA being added to the uniform.

I would LOVE to see the day where all teams have their home name on the jersey. But of course as soon as someone like Milwaukee gets with the program, some team out their will drop their city name to keep with the status quo. haha

If you want to see the how the St. Louis script looks, check out the '09 All-Star Game secondary logo - it's prominently featured.

We mean with the inclusion of the Birds on the Bat. The ASG logo only features St. Louis. On the main site, CC has a pic of St. Louis with the birds and bat. St. Louis is too much in the middle that it would simply look odd on a jersey. I did a concept a few years ago where I spelled out "Saint Louis" with the birds and bat, but don't know if they'd ever have the city in full spelling featured on a jersey.

Maybe it's because I'm from Maryland, the home of the best flag in the Union, but this is a thing of beauty.

I went to college in Baltimore and i absolutely agree with you. I love Maryland's state flag and was hoping one day the Orioles would somehow incorporate in the identity like the Ravens. I luv the logo, nice, simple and good look.

I went to college in B-more as well and always loved that flag and I think the patch looks great but I don't understand the need for two different versions of it. I think it's kind of funny that they removed the color yellow from the bird and supposedly removed it from their color scheme but then added the Maryland flag patch that contains plenty of yellow. Overall I like the refined look and am happy for O's fans that their city name has finally been returned to their road jerseys.

It's an upgrade for sure, but the Orioles script on the right sleeve is pretty poor, and the patch (as many have said) seems forced--they tried to do too much. I don't like the Red and Yellow being a part of their scheme either. I thought they should try the flag if they insist on it with orange and black instead.

Now, i put this together in paint in literally 2 minutes...it's that bad a rush job. I left one half original for comparison.

Thoughts? (Other than "wow that's an awful presentation")

Obviously, that isn't a real jersey, but I think it looks great. I created that from something that was posted on here a while back (before the Royals went to KC on the road.

I am very happy that the Orioles went to Baltimore on the road jerseys, but damn... These jerseys look worse to me every time I look at them. The giant B doesn't bother me that much, but the sharp angle of the script is just awful. Throw in the shrinking letters, and this is inexcusable. I think the script angled like this would look bad on it's own, but it looks terrible when paired with the Orioles script.

St. Louis and Milwaukee should definitely go with city name on the road. Los Angeles is tolerable. I don't think it works well with Kansas City, and I don't think it works even a little bit with Philadelphia.

See the difference?

The new script blows.

You know, at first when I saw the caps I was really disappointed. But the more I see of the caps, the more I like them. The slight changes, mainly the positioning, really helped the look.

I disagree about the third one posted (on the right). The 'r' looks terrible the way they did it and the 'B' isn't close to being completely closed, it looks like an 'R'.
