Last night I saw the best World Series game ever played.

This one is better before of 1975 WS Game 6 and 1986 WS Game 6.

Funny thing was that I was remembering Kirby Puckett and his 1991 WS Game 6 heroics a few innings before the last night's fantastic ending. :)

What an incredible game.

But wait! The Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies are not in this World Series so it's gonna suck!

This has been great for baseball.

Well... actually the Red Sox played two of the best remembered World Series ever: both were Game Six from the 1975 WS and the 1986 WS.

Although I'm a Red Sox and Giants fan, I think last night was the best ever World Series game.

You are seriously the biggest crybaby on these boards. The reason ESPN (I wont even watch it anyway) talks about the same teams all the times is amount of interest and fan support. Maybe if people in your pathetic excuse for a city actually supported their teams, lived and died with their teams, and invested countless time and money in their teams, they would get attention. Until then, get used to it, you live in an inferior market. Done.

Welp, I've been rooting for the Rangers since the series began.

But the Cardinals are going to win it (unfortunately). Momentum is on their side, Game 7 is at Busch and Rally Squirrel is coming through.

I really despise the Cardinals, not just because you guys beat Ted and Yaz in the World Series, but because you're the Yankees of the NL and - just like in 2006 - you got hot at the right time, and a couple of bounces went your way, and now you're World Champions.

But I'm not complaining that much. It's been a great series and game 7 will be fantastic.

I love how everyone on my facebook are suddenly "lifelong" Cardinals fans. Man, does that team have a wagon. :P

I had to go to bed early last night and missed the 11th inning, so I was unaware as to who won. I got my answer when I woke up just now to find a facebook-gasm of "AHH OMGZ CARDZZZZ!!!" plastered all over the news feed. Needless to say, as I'm personally pulling for the Rangers (lots of family from Texas), I wasn't too happy about it. Losing that game after being a strike away - twice - is a wretched pill to swallow.

Just like all the "lifelong" Red Sox fans from 04 to 09. The pink hats piss me off.

That pink hat segment those guys on the radio do up there is absolutely priceless.

So, it happens out in Utah, too? There's a reason I'd really like to see the Rangers win this, and it's because of that wagon that just crawls out of the woodworks come October. I mean, damn, it's like around here, the Cardinals are everyone's "second team" if their team's out.

I personally would take the 75 game six ahead of this one, if only because the general standard of play throughout was better (specifically fewer defensive plays blown). But it was one hell of a thrilling game. To be one pitch from winning the World Series twice and have your opponents come up with big hits both times, and then lose to a walk off homer must be about as heart breaking as sports gets. But then the Reds came back to win game 7 in 1975, so if I were a Ranger fan right now I would be quite bullish still.

Oh it's awful here! And these are all kids I went to school with and played ball with, so I know them well. I'm scratching my head because last week and as long as I've known them, all these guys were Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, D'Backs, or Rockies fans! There's nothing "lifelong" about thier fanship for the Cardinals at all :P

EDIT: Hell, I just remembered that even the Governor said he was a Cardinal fan yesterday on the news.

Like in 04 when the cardinals had the best record in baseball but lost to a team that was down 3-0 but got red hot and won 8 games in a row??

Who was that team again? :P

Yeah cuz a 3-1/2 week slump in August determines how good a team really is more than the previous 4 months or following 2 months.

I'm the biggest crybaby on these boards? Are you serious? You might want to check yourself before lobbing personal shots at others. I've been here almost 4 years and I'm sure that if I was a crybaby, a more respected member would have told me already. The last part of your post looks like sour grapes to me.

Bracing for a weekend of mind-numbing Cards nation employing mutual masturbation on social media. *preps internet bathysphere*

Predictions for tonight's game:

Cardinals boatrace the Rangers. Final score: 8-2.

MVP award will go to Phat Albert. (Not sayin' he will deserve it.)

Joe Buck will bore all 89 people watching on FOX to death.

Didn't the Shea Stadium jumbotron post "Congratulations 1986 World Series Champions Boston Red Sox" in the middle of the 9th inning of Game 6 '86, just before the comeback?

I sense something similar happening here.

Someone's still a bit bitter :D

Regardless on whether the Yankees or Sox won the AL in 04, they would've both taken out the Cards (or the Astros, for that matter).

Seriously. The Red Sox were good enough to win the AL East, a mid-year slump ruined their chances. They went 98 and 64, and I doubt anyone would've been surprised had they won 100 games. They stuck with the Yankees all year, and nearly won the division.

There's barely any correlation between the '04 Sox and the '11 Cards.

I'd compare the Cardinals to the Rockies from 07 more than anything. Wild card team that found a way to get in and got pretty hot. Obviously they didn't go on the tear the rockies did, but they're just one of those damned franchises that is built to survive the season and thrive in the clutch.

I was thinking the same thing. The Cards haven't been quite as hot as the Rockies were in '07, but have had a lot more success in the World Series.

So will Matt Holliday even be invited into the stadium to watch the game tomorrow night, or did his pathetic excuse for a performance tonight rule that out? No way he starts. He's been a ghost since he got to St. Louis, and did all he could to hand the game to Texas tonight. Something has gotta give.

And apparently, something DID give.

Oh so now it's your wrist, Matt? Sure thing, whatever you say. Have fun watching from your couch.
