Peyton Manning Sweepstakes

Maybe Tebow stays and tries to learn under Manning or not. More likely not.

Reports are already breaking that Elway has plans to keep Tebow once the Manning deal is official.

Still thinking Miami makes a hard run at Tebus.

Well, that makes me feel a lot better. Tebow has the chance to work with both John Elway & Peyton Manning... who else can say that?

Did I really type KEEP???? Naw, the Broncos are TRADING him. Tebow's played his last game as a Bronco, for sure.

Need more coffee this AM, I guess!

It appears that Tebow isn't exactly being sought after anyway. So I really want Denver to keep him. He could learn from two of the greatest to ever play the game. How many people get that chance?

Remember this about Tebow.

His cap number is very low and it goes down the remaining three years.

From the Denver Post:

Tebow already has been paid the bulk of the money in his contract. He received a guaranteed $6.278 million payment last July as training camp opened. His remaining salaries and salary cap charges are relatively modest, and his salary cap numbers go down each year for the rest of his contract.

His salary cap figure for 2012 is $3.142 million (including $1.1 million in base salary). His cap figure for 2013 is $2.624 million (including $1.055 million in base salary). His cap figure for 2013 is $2.239 million (including $670,000 in base salary).

Too bad, I would of loved to see him sign with the Cards. Or some other team who isn't used of having this calibur type of player.

Well the Cardinals had potential HOFer Kurt Warner for a few years. Unfortunately they were not able to capitalize on that and are still largely irrelevant in the sports landscape. Other than Larry Fitzgerald, I can't imagine any other top-tier athlete in his right mind choosing to go there when there were other offers on the table (which if you really are "top tier", there would be.)

Tebow had his chance to learn under Kyle Orton. Didn't help because he still can't pass worth :censored:. Elway is dying to wash his hands clean of Tebow, and this is his chance.

As for what Denver can get for Tebow, I don't see many teams DYING for Tebow's services, but he's proven that he can win games in the league. I could see a team like Miami giving up a 2nd rounder for him, and I can assure you Elway would take that in a heartbeat!

Jacksonville. At least they'll be interested in the freakshow component, whereas Miami really needs a good QB.

This is the last guy you should listen to when it comes to Jaguars affairs. He is wrong on a monthly basis.

You're saying that not even the Jaguars want Tebow? You could be right, although Khan has said before that he would have drafted him.

I hate to say it, because I despise Tim Tebow and everything he stands for, but he's the kind of "project" that Andy Reid seems to like, and I could totally see him bringing him to Philadelphia if the price was right (i.e. a low risk move.) It'd be disastrous, but I could see him making the move and justifying it by the fact that the only other QBs on the roster are Mike Kafka (has some talent, but not an NFL starter) and Trent Edwards (who hasn't played in the NFL for two seasons.)

He likes guys who are versitile and can do multiple things (though it's debatable that Tebow can throw) and he likes projects. I can easily envision the Eagles bringing him in and putting together a package of 5-10 plays for him to run per game.

In fact, unless there's a team that actually wants him and is willing to give up something, I would not be surprised at all if the Eagles just took him off Denver's hands. Disappointed, but not surprised.

This. No team will ever be heavily in the market for Tebow until he can throw the ball consistently.

But plenty of teams will trade a mediocre draft pick just to use him as a runner/red zone specialist.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

i love how this turned into a thread about manning to tebow. we are talking about manning to the broncos right? ah, ok just want to make sure.

Manning to the Broncos is a done deal. There are implications of that deal, such as "Get the :censored: out, Tim."

Miami I would say is the most logical destination for him just on the ticket sales and marketing alone.

This is a team that has struggled in recent years to draw. You put Tim Tebow on the roster every game this year is immediately sold out.

I'm not even sure where else he could go and still be a starter. Maybe Jacksonville but are they going to really dump their #10 pick after only one year?

I wonder what # he will wear, since 18 is retired. 16 maybe? He wore it with the Vols.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/former-broncos-qb-frank-tripucka-wouldnt-mind-seeing-no-18-reissued-if-it-helps-land-manning/2012/03/14/gIQAuZ0qCS_story.html

Frank Tripucka wore that number for three seasons in the early 1960s, when he was the first quarterback in club history.

After his tenure, the number was ceremonially retired.

But Tripucka is just fine with breaking it out of storage. The 84-year-old Tripucka said in a phone interview from his home in Woodland Park, N.J., that if Manning wants the number, “He should have it. Let’s give it to him.”

The real questions here IS: What are Denver fans gonna do with all those goddamn Tebow jerseys they bought in December?

They're using them to soak up all the holy water-flavored tears.

Despite Tripucka's approval, it would be spitting in the history of the franchise. There's a lot of history behind that number, and I believe it should remain retired. Tripucka was Denver's first quarterback under unique circumstances as he was originally a coach, he's the only player in the history of the Broncos to wear the number 18, and his number was also the first one in team history to be retired.

This from Bruce Arthur had me laughing.

And more and more people started doing the kneeling prayer pose they called ?Tebowing,? which had supplanting ?Owling,? wherein people on the Internet took pictures of themselves perching on things, which had replaced ?Planking,? in which people on the Internet took pictures of themselves lying facedown on things, and which was also the latest thing to make us wonder whether we really should have an Internet at all.

I can absolutely see Alex Smith signing in Miami and the Niners being completely stupid and trading for Tebow. Gahh, this sucks.
