OK- so if you guys had it your way, how would each team look?

Me:

Anaheim- Change the black to a dark green, make the duck mask logo the primary in updated colors. Webbed foot as shoulder patch.

Boston- Change nothing except add a hem stripe to the alt.

Buffalo- Remove piping, lighten the blue.

Calgary- Go back to either the pre-edge set or maybe add some black to the 80s set.

Carolina- Go back to two days ago.

Chicago- Change nothing.

Colorado- Pre-edge set.

Columbus- I'm really not sure. I think they need something new altogether.

Dallas- I'm content with the new unis, save for a few tweaks here and there.

Detroit- nothing.

Edmonton- never change again.

Florida- Back to the gorgeous pre-edge set.

Los Angeles- I don't mind their new unis, although a little purple would be nice. Remove piping.

Minnesota- Make the third your template for home and away. Add the bear head logo to the front.

Montreal- nothing.

Nashville- Navy alternate would be nice, but for now, just remove the piping.

New Jersey- nothing

NY Islanders- nothing, but for the love of god burn all the alternates ever produced. A well done orange third could be nice.

NY Rangers- nothing.

Ottawa- Go back to anything you wore before these cookie cutter pieces of crap.

Philadelphia- Could use some tweaks, but nice altogether.

Phoenix- I loved their original set, but I understand that most people didn't. Add a hem stripe to an otherwise solid set.

Pittsburgh- Who's in charge here? Pre-edge or modernize your 80's-90's unis. Come on now, your uniforms are gross.

St. Louis- Same as Pittsburgh. Pre-edge or modernize the 70's unis.

San Jose- Remove orange, replace with silver.

Tampa Bay- They need black.

Toronto- nothing.

Vancouver- remove workmark, atleast off the home.

Washington- Use a striping pattern based on your retro, make a blue alternate with the Weagle logo.

Winnipeg- They've sort of grown on me, but they need a little more red.

Out of yesterday's reveals, I would say the Carolina away is the best. ( I love the colors) Any agreements?

Followed by Dallas home, away, Carolina home.

^ No thanks..hated the mesh material under the arms. They need to go back to their original uniforms

I've gotta disagree. Their original set wasn't terrible, but it does kinda fall along the lines of original 6 dress up. The set before the logo change was awesome. It was a modern template that wasnt too over the top and had staying power IMO. It's a real shame they went back to O6DU.

Obviously we're entitled to our own opinions, but I'd say that the Canes white jersey is better than the red because it does much better job of color distribution and balance.

^Valid point, I just can't get over how empty and boring the white jersey looks. I would personally feel slightly more interesting wearing the red than the white...that's the basis of my judgement.

Interesting, I've never heard that angle or viewpoint when picking a jersey.

For me it's the numbers that do it. I like the sleeve striping but the black numbers bordered with gray/silver do it for me.

My prediction is that in 2020, all the teams will look like original 6 teams.

Here's some examples:

Blue Jackets might very well look like the 90's rangers

Ottawa will wear their heritage's that are similar to Montreal

Calgary will switch to Boston-esque striping if they know what's good for them

Florida will merge with Toronto and no one will notice/care

and St Louis will probably go with their original striping that looks like Toronto's third.

DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT HOCKEY

I think "Original Six Dressup" has quickly become one of the worst phrases used here. Just because a team has straight hem and sleeve stripes doesn't mean they're playing Original Six dressup. That's just how a hockey jersey looks. If only six teams were allowed to have uniforms like that, the NHL would be the ugliest sports league by far. That doesn't mean that every team has to wear a traditional jersey, but more than six teams should be able to wear traditional looking uniforms without that phrase being thrown around.

Original Six dress-up is supposed to describe uniforms like the Lightning, the Beej's third alternate, and Carolina's new set. Though when people start calling San José's inaugural set that, it's jumped the shark (hehehe). Their original set was teal, black, and silver - about as modern as you can get, as well as with a cartoony logo. It's a shame that straight hem stripes are now considered "old-school" by some (thanks Reebok!), considering that 99.999% of pre-2007 jerseys had them.

You don't know what iconic means.

I do like that uniform a lot though.

If you wanna go there, the Cambridge Dictionary defines "iconic" as "very famous or popular, especially being considered to represent particular opinions or a particular time". Pretty much sums up why classic hockey looks are considered "iconic" - being very famous and representing old-time hockey tradition and greatness. The Habs' uniforms are iconic because they're associated with some of the greatest dynasties in the sport, and heck, even an entire culture. Anyone who knows a lick about hockey knows that logo and what it represents. That is iconic.

Right. There's nothing iconic at all about that Sharks uniform. Doesn't mean it's not really nice though.

Anaheim: Dark green, either bring back the Mighty Ducks logo or go with the webbed D

Boston: Nothing

Buffalo: Lose the gray pit stains / piping

Calgary: Go back to their original look (current throwback alt)

Carolina: Add black to the home, bring back the warning flags

Chicago: Nothing

Colorado: Pre-Edge set

Columbus: Nothing to home and away, add red to the alt (instead of the light blue)

Dallas: Nothing (for now)

Detroit: Nothing

Edmonton: Nothing

Florida: Go back to their original set

Los Angeles: Work some purple back in

Minnesota: Use third as home, and basis for away

Montreal: Nothing

Nashville: Nothing

New Jersey: Nothing, but bringing back the Xmas tree unis once a year would be nice

NY Islanders: Nothing to home and away, burn current alt, base new alt off of Edge look

NY Rangers: Nothing

Ottawa: Use the modernized side view of the Senator on a simpler jersey. Do nothing to current alt.

Philadelphia: Would like to see a black alt return

Phoenix: Light blue, a few fleur-de-lis, and an N that looks like an igloo with a puck and stick

Pittsburgh: Go with the old pre-robo Penguin jersey, use vegas gold

St. Louis: Pre-Edge

San Jose: Go back to original color scheme of teal, gray, and black

Tampa Bay: Use the Bolts 3rd as new template, use old Lightning logo on it

Toronto: Nothing

Vancouver: Stick in rink

Washington: Weagle alt

Winnipeg: Throwback alt

Vancouver- remove workmark, atleast off the home.

Washington- Use a striping pattern based on your retro, make a blue alternate with the Weagle logo.

Winnipeg- They've sort of grown on me, but they need a little more red.

Anaheim- Colours are fine. I'd change up the hem striping to something less asymmetrical and disjointed.

Boston-Boston has the best jerseys in the league. Small changes:Invert the colours of the shoulderpatches on the home so they don't blend in completely with the yoke. Remove the black spacing between the numbers and outline. MAYBE change the socks to black, but thats more about my curiousity to see how that would look. Away is flawless.

Buffalo-Get rid of extraneous piping, I'm okay with them keeping silver.

Calgary-Overhaul. Something similar to the pre-edge sets. I'm okay with them keeping black.

Carolina-Bring back the flag pattern

Chicago-I'm not the biggest fan of their home jerseys. I know thats blasphemy, and I don't think they're ugly jerseys, but they're not that special to me. As for what I'd change, idk. I honestly liked their black ones more, but still don't think those are too great. So I don't know. I like their away jerseys a lot more, but I'd change the striping so that its two red stripes bordering a black one and change the number colours from black to red, just to add a little more colour in.

Columbus-Overhaul. Not too big on another red and blue team. Maybe they could try a blue and grey dominant colour scheme? I'm also not too fond of their logo. I'd like to see something a little more civil war-y. Maybe a better cannon logo than the roundel they have now.

Dallas- Replace the black with gold.

Detroit- White cuffs on the red, white collar, maybe add a small additional white hem stripe. Away is fine.

Edmonton- Go back to the pajama jerseys, but get rid of the piping, wrap the stripes all the way around the arm, and add an identical hem stripe.

Florida- Simplify the panther.

Los Angeles- Go back to the purple throwbacks, add an identical white away (with some gold thrown in) and make a new logo.

Minnesota-Something closer to the original green jerseys. I don't like a team from 2000, called the 'Wild' no-less, dressing up as Olde Tyme Hockey

Montreal- Home is flawless, no changes. Away kind've sucks in comparison to the home. Make a white one patterned after the home red.

Nashville- Not too fond of the super edgified sets, but I do like the gold. Make something similar to the checkerboard patterned alternates in gold and navy.

New Jersey- Flip the colours of either the yoke or stripes on the away. Too much black, not enough red.

New York Islanders- Nothing. Ditch the alt.

New York Rangers- darken the shade of blue a bit, and ditch the drop shadowed numbers.

Ottawa- Use the updated side-facing Senator logo, better striping pattern.

Philadelphia- Looks great. No changes.

Phoenix- Change the colour of the white on the home to sand, add hem stripes. Hem stripes on the away too and small sand coloured borders on the striping.

Pittsburgh- Change the striping, keep the vegas gold.

St. Louis- remove the apron striping, add some dark blue to the bottom of the jersey

San Jose- They look fine as is. Any change I could think of would be a lateral move.

Tampa Bay- Go back to using blue, black, silver and white. As for striping they can do what they want. Their alternate is fine, minus the piping.

Toronto-Same jersey striping, but go back to the 47 point leaf.

Vancouver- Take the striping on the home and away and put the third jersey's logos on them. Add some green to the collar and change the font and add a green outline.

Washington- Start over, keep the Weagle logo.

Winnipeg- Jerseys, Colours, Fonts, etc are fine, need a new logo.

The Blue Jackets should not emphasize grey in any way what so ever.

Maybe, but they certainly don't need to be another red and blue team. I'd like to see them find an identity thats somewhat unique or at least interesting.

Double blue fits the name, but it's about as overplayed as red, white, and blue currently.

EDIT- The 90s Capitals scheme might work for them, actually.

I never suggested double blue, I think that should be Winnipeg's territory. I just don't think blue and red is a good idea. Blue and bronze could be okay if done right.

I've always thought that the Blue Jackets should lessen the use of red to strictly a small trim color and switch the grey/silver for brass or yellow considering that a lot of the actual jackets the military wore were accented with yellow thread and brass buttons.
