And to think that the Pacers wore the gold jerseys exclusively at home in the regular season, then wear it on the road in the playoffs, it's very confusing. What if the NBA flipped the switch, like go with dark colors at home and white/light on the road, like the NHL and NFL?

I kind of like the soccer system where you have two jerseys, regular and alternate. You wear the regular every game unless there's a conflict, then the visiting team wears the alternate.

Can't have yellow as primary road because it's a light color and looks awful and contrasts poorly against a team in white.

That is to say, "shouldn't" have yellow as primary road.

Looked fine here

Looks awful, defies tradition

I would much rather prefer yellow uniforms against dark colored uniforms than yellow vs white or gray in sports. The Pacers are so much better wearing blue against any team in white. Yellow uniforms or jerseys against red, orange, kelly to midnight green, purple, black, teal, indigo, sky blue to dark blue any kind of blue make more sense in sports! Yellow vs. white, silver, or gray is the NBA, NFL, NHL or College Football is awful! And as far as flipping the switch is concerned, I doubt it.

That's the kind of thinking that gets us crap like Oregon football, their many copycats, and those horrid Warriors alternates with the sleeves and pinstripes only on the shorts. Sometimes a little respect for tradition's a good thing, if only so it serves as a moderating influence on designs that otherwise shouldn't see the light of day.

I'm a die hard Laker fan, so needless to say I have an odd and somewhat blind devotion of all yellow basketball unis. As much as I would totally abhor the thought that another team would even consider utilizing a similar look as their primary home jerseys, I have got to say that those yellow Pacers jerseys are a thing of beauty. I hate the collars but the rest of the uni is total class.

That's not a defying tradition problem, that's a people having no idea what looks good problem.

The Warriors' alt was very much a defy tradition problem.

Irony at its best

I think he may (or may not) be commenting on and/or referring to their most recent series of alt unis that have seemed to totally gone against the team's primary historical look. Just a guess.

Actually no, I have no problem with the green/black or green/gold.

I just think the constant jerking off about tradition is repulsive.

I understand no other team have as much as a yellow jersey tradition as the Lakers, but the Warriors, Cavaliers, and I believe the Pacers have used it quite a bit in the past; I always thought of the traditional Warriors home jerseys as the yellows.

Yes, all of the teams you mentioned have featured gold/yellow uniform treatments in recent years but its been a very long time since a team other than the Lakers has designated a yellow uniform as one of their primaries. I believe the very same Warriors that you just referenced were the last ones if I'm not mistaken, and that was a very long time ago. I still would not be too keen on a team doing that but I it would be tough for me to refuse to acknowledge a great yellow uniform if it were created. Up until this point the Pacers are the ones that have come closest for me.

Those were just a lame recolor of a standard champion template that the knicks and some colleges had.

I for one say it's due time to bring back the FLOJO's.

I don't know if that template was specifically a Champion creation, but it was a great basketball template.

But I agree that those Pacers unis with the pinstripes sucked and the FloJos were the best they ever looked.

The guys over at Pacers Digest are convinced that the Pacers are getting new unis in 2013-2014...apparently, one of guys heard before this past season that this would be the last we'd see of them.

If they do change it i'd like to see something like this as the primary road jerseys :

Unique colour combination in eastern conference and they would be only the second team in the whole league with pinstripes.

Old Navy actually designed the Pacers' pinstriped jerseys.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I don't see why teams shouldn't be allowed to wear yellow at home. The Warriors would look SO much better with yellow homes rather than white. And no matter the tradition or grandfathered aspect, it's still pretty hypocritical to say the Lakers can do it but other teams can't.

about as repulsive as that metaphor

Sorry to soil your virgin ears.

I can understand the league not wanting to infringe on the Lakers' identity with the gold homes, but I'd like to see somebody have a light blue home jersey at some point. Don't know if any of the league's current identities would work with that but it's an idea. /notquiteontopic

Could work with Denver. As it stands, they've got three light-colored uniforms. One may as well be a home jersey.
