The NBA's branding rules are so stupid. You must carry over a completely-unrelated sore thumb of a logo from your previous set, because of Basketball Reasons.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

Wait, so the suns are changing their logos to black and orange (which I actually really like), yet they're keeping the PHX logo and it's staying purple? That's the most bush league thing I've ever seen. This really doesn't get my hopes up for what the new uniform set is going to look like.

Really, if the Suns were smart, they'd capitalize on the colors every other Phoenix team is wearing and change their primary colors from purple and orange to brick red and black. Black and orange are the main colors of one of the D Backs biggest rivals, and purple is worn by two other teams in the Pacific Division.

The S-sun is forced and doesn't work at all, IMO. The recolors are interesting, if only because of what they chose to recolor and what they chose not to. We've seen teams recolor and slightly modify and "avoid the fine." So why did they leave the PHX-bird as the only one with purple? Based on that small sample size of comments, it's the least-liked Suns logo, but is in the most popular colors.

And lol at multiple "We're not the Giants" comments. Didn't realize that baseball rivalry was so serious out west.

No way, the last thing the NBA needs is another team ditching a unique color scheme for a duller one (which is pretty much what they're doing now, but hey, at least it's not using another shade of red or blue!)

The Suns should've just replaced gray with black, made orange their road jersey color and purple their alternate, and gone on from there.

Tradition is the foundation of innovation, and not the enemy.

The Nuggets have the same colors as the Chargers. Broncos fans really don't give a :censored:. Having the same colors as a rival team in another sport doesn't mean anything.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

The majority of Broncos fans couldn't care less about the Nuggets though.

Part of me really wants to like that S but it is done so poorly that it looks amateur. Good concept, bad execution, it just doesn't look right.

'Suns' alone won't be a good fit with the brick red and black scheme. Change the name as something related to the desert nature of Phoenix's three other teams, like prior reject names Scorpions, Thunderbirds, Wranglers, Mustangs and Cougars

Theyre already flushing a great 40-year-old color scheme down the toilet; the last thing they need to pile on that is a needless name change.

You can be sure with Sarver at the helm, this refresh will be a disaster, and I'd be willing to bet the fans will be furious if they more or less ditch the purple in the color scheme. I don't know why teams don't throw a few possibilities out there and let the fans have some input in a re-design. I already see this new Suns look being total garbage. However, in a previous post, someone did point out that the Suns draft t-shirt for this year is purple.

My hi-res of the Suns leaks:

The S logo is just the primary sun blacked out and put into the wordmark S. Lazy.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

That is just god awful...all 3 of them. I can only imagine how crappy the uniforms will look.

This Suns package is a cornucopia of suck, and we haven't even seen the jerseys yet. First off, once again, unless these logos are for a :censored:ing airport, there should NOT be a PHX one. It's really, really dumb. It's also horribly dumb and shortsighted for the Suns to drop what has been their primary color for their entire 45 year existence. The S-sun logo is terrible and pointless. The beveling is bad. The Suns have looked terrible the last dozen years or so, and it's a shame that they are going way further off the tracks.

Has there even been enough fan backlash over a new design that made the team change again very quick?

Yep. Michigan State, Iowa, Dallas Mavericks, and the 49ers come to mind.

Well, I certainly see another one coming with the Suns, especially since the fans already hate the owner with a passion.
