FiddySicks
Green numbers with a silver/gray outline and black drop shadow (not as extreme as the old North Stars shadow) might have worked as well to tie the gray in the logo in to something else on the uniform. At the very least, if they wanted single color numbers/letters, the NOB should have been black and the numbers green, as that would have matched the striping perfectly.Exactly. F'ing brilliant. Why do you do this?A) Duplicate accountsB ) Severe case of "my opinion is truer than all others!"C) A and B On the logo, I like it less and less each time I see it. I don't like the trend of just stacking elements, we get the D on the star here and the last rebrand we saw was a circle, than a leaf/explosion (yeah, try to unsee that!), than a jet outline. IMO, that's where the term clip art could be applied (thrown around way too much these days), when various elements are just dashed one on top of the other. Bayne
I don't think Dallas Stars lends itself to a wide interpretation of what imagery that could evoke to someone. A D on a star is probably as interesting as you could get without making it cartoony. Some logos like the Blackhawks would have it be a crime if they had a logo with a feather and the letter B ontop of it, but I think this fits Dallas nicely. The star is the motif and the city is known as the big D, so it makes sense to but a big D covering it. Looks sharp. I'm Danny fkn Heatley, I play for myself. That's what fkn all stars do. BrandMooreArt
Today on the NHL Network Mike Modano said he was involved in the process and the early concepts were indeed red, white and blue.there were about 5 different combinations i know of myself. (one direction was blue and silver. could you imagine if that happened?) i havent said anything in the thread about this but i think the whole project came out fantastic. so congrats to MEANS (and Harrington??) on a job well done. from the stuff i've read from the owners it sounds like this would be a real pain in the ass project (stripes being "1/8 of an inch too small"). what i know of the logos is that it could have gone in many different directions but everything would have worked just as well IMO. im not sure if the general public can appreciate the amount of work that went into this identity. im excited to see it on the ice GRAPHIC ARTIST BEHANCE / MEDIUM / DRIBBBLE

Still MIGHTY
According to Gagliardi, they were pretty close to using this same design, everything, except with blue instead of green until Modano came in to adamantly demand they stay green.Damn near had the Dallas Ice Cowboys. | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |

There are definitely Cowboys-inspired elements, but keeping the green keeps the identity firmly in Stars territory. And now all of the Dallas teams will be tied to one another through stars and silver.

habsfan1
Only 1 minor complaint about the news jerseys:I don't like how they were aiming for a "classic/timeless" look, yet they went with a über-futuristic cut for the shoulder yokes. They should of went with standard cuts instead. rcb05
I heard today that the Stars very nearly went with this design, but in blue, and Modano is the one that convinced them to stay with green (not sure how accurate that is). But with that in mind, I took a stab and how these would have looked with blue subbed out for green. Certainly not awful, but also not nearly as distinctive. It just would not have looked like the Stars.

Looks like a new Reebok template. That'll pretty much be the only reason it looks the way it does. But then is it really all that different from New Jersey using more of a square cut as opposed to a more traditional rounded one?
