That and the Giants owners paid cash money for the territorial rights to San Jose. If the A's want those rights so bad, time to open their wallets.

They did? Last I checked Bob Lurie paid $0 for the rights to San Jose. He was in fact given them for free by Wally Haas.

Yeah but as I've pointed out before, it's not quite that simple.

Also time for the Giants to stop going all "Incognito" on the Athletics organization.

Yeah, nice try. You might find it useful to actually read the article I posted above.

MLB:

Tampa Bay Rays- The Trop is a fine facility (I've been there before) for baseball, but with the struggling attendance and the terrible location in St.Pete, they might have to move either to downtown Tampa when the lease is done or a new market such as Charlotte and Indianapolis.

Oakland A's- The Coliseum used to be a nice place for baseball, but they have to move out of Oakland and hopefully they get to play in San Jose if they get the territorial rights.

LA Dodgers- People think I might be crazy with this one but hear me out. Dodger Stadium is a classic but there are some major issues with it's proximity to street gangs, horrendous LA traffic, and look obsolete (IMO) compared to AT&T Park. The rise of street gangs is a major issue especially with the Bryan Stow beating and it might not be safe for younger fans to attend games. The traffic is also another reason why the Dodgers need to move farther away from Downtown LA because it has a negative impact on attendance to Dodgers games. The last reason is just personal opinion but compared to AT&T Park in San Fran, Dodger Stadium isn't as enjoyable for fans to go to. I think the Dodgers should be doing what the Braves are doing and move away from the city and go to a suburban area to solve much of the issues.

Finally realized that with the renovations, the Dodgers are removed from the list.

NBA:

New Orleans Pelicans: The arena isn't the problem, but it's the fans that is the main reason that the Pelicans need a new venue. The Pelicans are getting lost in between the Saints and even LSU football. They deserve to play in a city that has loyal basketball fans and Seattle might be the answer.

Milwaukee Bucks: Same as New Orleans but the only place I can see them move is Louisville (which is a loooonnnggg shot with UofL's dominance in the city).

Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors: Plans are already underway.

NHL:

Phoenix Coyotes: Jobing.com Arena is a great hockey facility but I feel it is too far from Phoenix and it shows in the attendance department. If they have to relocate (definitely a possibility), Seattle and Portland would definitely be in the Top 2 in my opinion because they might have loyal followers of hockey and it would establish a rivalry with the Canucks.

Florida Panthers: They definitely need a new home and Hamilton would be an excellent location for the franchise.

NY Islanders: Moving to Brooklyn is an excellent opportunity for the survival of the franchise (look at the Nets).

NFL:

NY Jets: I know that they won't move out of Metlife stadum anytime soon, but if they would, Brooklyn would be a great spot for a franchise.

Jacksonville Jaguars: If the team is bad enough, the attendance is even worse. Nothing against the stadium, but the Jags need to move out of Jacksonville and move to LA or even Toronto.

Miami Dolphins: They need to have a stadium with a retractable roof just like in Indy because the weather is keeping fans away from the games.

Minnesota Vikings, San Fran 49er's, and Atlanta Falcons: new stadiums underway.

Five years ago, I would've probably agreed with you, but since new ownership took over a lot of the problems with violence on stadium grounds has been fixed. And you should see the place now that renovations have occurred. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's classic yet it looks brand new. It's got the same old timey feel it's always had, but now with updated amenities. The way they fixed the concourse issues without ruining the aesthetics of the place is downright impressive, and the new HD boards are some of the best and most creative I've ever seen in a ball park(SO much better than the giant amber lit iPhone 3 and old tube screen video board they used to have). It's truly one of a kind and is a real gem now that it's been cleaned up and they've actually bothered to hire security that aren't all lazy stoners running on a skeleton crew. The parking issue seems better now that they have competent ownership, too. But in reality they'll never be able to do anything about bad LA traffic (that's just the nature of the city) unless they move out to, like, Lancaster or something, and that's a moronic idea.

And this is coming from a Giants fan who absolutely HATED the place just a few short seasons ago. The top five worst stadium experiences I've ever had came at Dodgers Stadium, but the time I had there this past summer changed my opinion of the place 100%. It went from being on the very bottom of my list of stadiums I've been to, to probably, shockingly, in my top three now. It's a night and day difference.

But yeah, you're right, AT&T is still WAY better :P

Thanks for the perspective. I didn't actually see the renovations until now and I actually agree with you for the most part.

I'm reading your post, and I'm wondering why you're comparing Dodger Stadium to AT&T Park to begin with. It's not really a fair comparison to judge something built in the late-1990s at the plight of the "retro-modern" ballpark era, to a park built with the accommodations of the economic boom periods of the 1950s and 1960s. It would be like comparing Lambeau Field to Cowboys Stadium and say that the park in Green Bay is horribly outdated by comparison.

MLB

Tampa Bay Rays(Now that St. Pete's mayor is out, maybe a new stadium in Tampa)

Oakland A's(San Jose or (insert random city here))

NBA

Milwaukee Bucks(Seattle beckons, but is there a white knight looming(or in this case, a green knight)?)

NFL

Oakland Raiders(Levi's Stadium or L.A.? That is the question.)

St. Louis Rams(L.A. or a stadium not in the St. Louis city limits)

Jacksonville Jaguars(Ahmed Khan wants London. He might not get it)

San Diego Chargers(L.A. or bust)

NHL

Edmonton Oilers(What's taking them so long?)

AFL

A new Melbourne mid-sized stadium(good for those Western Bulldogs-St. Kilda clashes)

Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Sounds like something from a Rocky & Bullwinkle story arc.

Jacksonville Jaguars: If the team is bad enough, the attendance is even worse. Nothing against the stadium, but the Jags need to move out of Jacksonville and move to LA or even Toronto.

I think their lease is really, really tough to get out of (In my opinion, it sucks that Jacksonville, a city that never should have gotten an NFL team, even has a lease like that).

If anyone moves to LA, though, I would rather see the Rams move there, and then, I would like to see the Jags go to St. Louis. That would correct two wrongs from the 90's.

If SD is going to experiment with an indoor team again it'll take a new arena and hockey would be the better bet. Despite the location there is a strong hockey loving contingent in town probably due in no small part to the transitory population.

SD did have the Mariners in the WHA back in the 70's:

http://www.whahockey.com/mariners.html

http://sportsecyclopedia.com/wha/sandiego/mariners.html

Ray Kroc bought the Mariners in 1976 with his eye on a merger with the NHL, but he sold the team the next year because attendance wasn't great. The new buyers were going to move the team to Melbourne, Fla, but it fell through, and the team folded.

It's too bad that the Mariners didn't work out, and that the Buffalo Braves moved to San Diego instead of Dallas (although, Donald Sterling may have bought the Mariners and moved them to LA instead. Who knows?).

But not before one last game of Old-Time Hockey. Like Eddie Shore.

Edmonton Oilers(What's taking them so long?)

The final funding was approved by the city council and groundbreaking will happen spring of 2014. I must say though, its in a bit of an odd place. There is no LRT to the arena which is not ideal (for me personally) and I think parking will be a big issue. It's also not really downtown, more the outskirts of downtown. It's right across the street from the Greyhound bus station.

Maybe they're planning on marketing to all of the Arizona hockey fans who come up to Canada? Or does that only work the other way?

Looks like both the Raiders and A's re-uped at the Coliseum until the end of 2015.

Hopefully get something sorted out on a stadium in the meantime, although I doubt it.

Actually the Raiders only re-upped 1 year with a team option for 2015 and 16. The A's only re-upped for 2 years with no option beyond that. It definitely looks like things are coming to a head in Oakland with regard to both team's futures. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if this is the A's final lease at the Coliseum given that MLB was the entity pushing for the 2 year lease, not the A's (who were fine with 5 years and the city which wanted 10). Wouldn't shock me in the slightest to hear soon that San Jose is a go or that the A's are being moved elsewhere.

I predict that the Raiders will move in with the Niners, and the A's will either finally move to San Jose, or they'll re-up the lease again in 2015 for a few more years in Oakland, and THEN move to San Jose. I could've seen the Raiders move to LA if Al Davis were still alive, but I feel like their new leadership is slightly more logical, and they'll end up doing the logical thing in moving to Santa Clara.

Going to be weird if the Raiders move in with the Niners. Both teams repping different cities, playing in a different city. It'd be like having the Manhattan Giants and the Brooklyn Jets, both playing in New Jersey.

Such a shame. Two teams with such storied pasts in Oakland (A's and Raiders I mean).

Unfortunately time passed Oakland by in the 1970's and it's just now catching up with them.
