C'mon, the orange pants were great. Easily the Browns best look. Just go back to this look and call it a day. Sleeves and all! B)

Not sure what people are looking at when they say the white facemask over the gray. The gray is better. End of discussion. Its a better visual.

Also, I don't understand the people who think the Browns' white on white look is a good look. It looks terrible. It looks like old long john underpants. The white shirts need contrasting pants... either orange or brown.

End of discussion.

Not to mention the history attached to the current look...

I'm no fan of teams playing musical record books, and I do believe that the NFL and Cleveland's insistence that the current Browns and the historic Browns are the same entity is ridiculous. That being said? The NFL does attach the historic Browns' records to the current Browns teams. Those records include four AAFC championships, four NFL championships, eleven NFL conference championships, and sixteen hall of famers. Including a player many consider to be one of the, if not the, greatest running backs of all time.

So it's incredibly naive to say "the Browns' uniforms are only associated with losing." They're not. Historically speaking? They're incredibly significant and to argue otherwise is to be either stubbornly ignorant or just a younger fan who can't be bothered to research a team's history beyond the last five years. Having a team with the Browns' pedigree (as tenuous as I'd argue it is) dressing up in a Nike space aged clown suit? It would be like putting the Boston Celtics in sleeved jerseys. Oh wait, they did that didn't they? We're all doomed.

well by that logic then atleast 1/3 of the teams in the NFL should never change. I really think that connecting uniforms to history is a little silly.

See, I think about 1/3 of the NFL shouldn't change. Do the Bears and Raiders need to ditch their iconic looks just because they've fallen on hard times as of late? No.

As for connecting uniforms to history? It's all connected. A team is a business. A business has a brand. What makes up the brand of a sports team? History and aesthetics are a huge part of that. Try to tell me that the New York Yankees' history can be divorced from the pinstripes. Or that the Cardinals' history can be divorced from the birds on the bat. You can't. The Browns have been terrible since their "return," but that only really speaks to the strength of their brand. This is a brand that represents a decade + of losing, yet the team's fans remain incredibly loyal to it. Despite being mostly irrelevant they have one of the most notable helmets in the NFL.

The Browns' current brand isn't weak or ugly or stale or boring because of the losing. It's strong, bold, and cultivates a loyal following and strong recognition despite the losing. Why is that? History.

knocked it out of the park.

What he said.

Absolutely beautiful from head-to-toe! Then again, this was the look I grew up with and the team I pulled for until '95.

Stop it. You did not provide a final truth.

I prefer white though I admit both white (too loud) and gray (non-team color) stick out for different reasons. I'd like to see them try brown (see Bowling Green)

The other still-going discussion...I agree about white-on-white. I don't like that for any team...just like monochrome color. The Browns need a pair of either orange or brown pants for their white jerseys. Discuss.

IMO the Browns would have orange pants but only to wear with the white jerseys as the primary road look. There's no place for brown pants even with stripes because pants that are darker than the helmet very rarely work outside of a white helmet and white jersey. Orange pants with the brown jersey...YUCK, no thanks I think that is just gaudy and overwhelming. I like Illinois in orange/blue/orange but the Browns in orange/brown/orange is just so unappealing, too many colors. I think white pants are by far the best option with the brown jersey.

Same thing I've always said about the Browns. Orange pants look great with white jerseys, but it just doesn't look good with the brown jerseys. I don't think the all-white is a bad look and I'd be fine with that look a couple of times a year to change it up on the road.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: everything about the Browns stinks from top to bottom.

Let it go, people. They should've taken this approach in 1999 similar to the new Winnipeg Jets.

I hope Nike goes "scorched earth" with this thing and keeps very little of the old look and feel.

I want a modern interpretation of a classic uniform. Give me the Ohio State Rivalry uniform from the last few years... fix a few things like the mismatching numeral and letter colors, the contrasting facemask color, and change chrome to matte, and I think everyone will be happy.

I'd love to have had the Browns go Winnipeg Jets (Particularly regarding the NFL's history-shuffle, but I don't want to open that argument up). But since these are considered the same Browns as before, I think it's good that they adopted the same look...even if just temporarily.

Now if Nike does blow the look apart, at least after this much time, there'll be less confusion regarding whether or not these are (technically) the "same" Browns.

I personally disagree and hope that they keep the essential look. "No Helmet Logo" is kinda the team's helmet logo. And the brown color is "theirs" too (which I don't think you are actually suggesting they change).

Most "old" teams don't go too crazy with their uniforms; even the Lions and Eagles, while doing some modernization of colors, etc. have kept bubbles and the wings. Whatever happens, I want it to be sustainable and not to lose the essence of the decades-old brand. I want them to be more "Packers" than "1997 Broncos."

I don't trust Nike to design something as clean and simple as the new Winnipeg Jets' uniforms.

Not only that, the equivalent of the Winnipeg Jets would be a disappointment for the Browns. I think the best anyone can say about the Jets' identity is "not bad". The Browns have a classic look.

I've heard the color combo (not that I'm suggesting they change that) described as ugly , as well as the overall look. I've heard all those other words used to describe the uniform as well.

From posting here, I've "heard" every uniform described as ugly and beautiful.

Brown and orange are autumnal colors, football is played largely in autumn. I think it's a great color scheme for them. I don't think I'd like it so much in other applications, but for an NFL team, it's sharp. And Ohio is a traditional kind of place. I think their teams' uniforms generally do a good job reflecting that (except the Bengals).

EDIT: ideal Browns uniforms are brown jerseys with orange pants and brown striped socks at home, all white on the road. Those are their classic looks. And it has to be the right shade of brown, not the near-black they've "evolved" to.

EDIT 2: The new Winnipeg Jets look really boring at home and their italic numbers clash with their straight nameplates.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Why would you have them with no white parts at home, but then 2/3 white on the road? They really don't need white pants at all IMO - orange or even new brown pants (with stripes) would be fine on the road.

Because the all-white looks good and so many Browns fans agree that it's their Definitive Look, so I try to defer to them. Orange-brown-orange-brown at home satisfies my weird thing about alternating colors when possible. Granted, orange-white-orange-white would, too, but I don't think orange pants look as good with their white jerseys and socks as white pants do. I have the same problem with the Bears wearing navy pants. All white feels more "complete," dark helmet notwithstanding, while the navy pants seem to be kind of floating between white.

I don't think brown pants fit into the picture anywhere.

yes and that's gotten them where exactly in the last 50 years? I dont think you can really call anything "classic" if it's associated with a half century of abject failure. Change it up.
