More on Sterling...the L.A. Times has a story up today regarding the numerous lawsuits he and his wife were involved in over the years, including two former players (Marques Johnson and Bill Walton) having to go to arbitration to get back money Sterling owed them. It definitely seems like he and the wife are very sue-happy, taking to you to court on even the smallest slight.

Meanwhile, a week before Anderson Cooper interviewed Sterling, he also interviewed former Clipper VP/GM Elgin Baylor and his wife...he basically reiterated what he said about Sterling in the lawsuit against him and the NBA. Can't say that Elgin has much sympathy for the Donald...

She is just as filthy and disgusting as Sterling is.

Specifically why?

I'll grant she's unpalatable, but the same? No.

Not unless she engaged in a system of racist housing practices.

Not unless she withheld payments to employees that they had earned.

Not unless she has a long history of racially inflammatory rhetoric.

So I'm curious to hear - why do you say she is "just as filthy and disgusting as Sterling is"?

Having an affair with a married man

Using him to get millions of dollars worth of gifts

When the wife finds out and sues her she goes to the press with the tapes

Would have lived with the racism if it wasn't for her possibly losing her fortune

She essentially is nothing more than a high priced hooker.

Which is clearly worse than denying people shelter because of the color of their skin. To me, you sound like misogynists.

So did the NBA accept an illegally recorded conversation?

The NBA isn't a court of law. How the tapes came out is, as far as they're concerned, immaterial next to the fact that one of their private partners' bigoted thoughts are public record. The legality and moral grey area isn't their concern.

Not if what she said is true, that he asked her to record them as a memory aid, and that he knew about the recordings and consented to them.

He's also lied or misled so many times since the tapes came out, that I think he's lost any benefit of the doubt on that one.

I don't think Sterling asked her to record these tapes and turn them over to TMZ for a "Gotcha!" move. And having heard it, it sure did sound like she was baiting him into saying these things. It was definitely a dick move by her.

I don't trust either of their words, really.

Sounds like Cuban might not vote to remove sterling, or he could we dont know until it happens

I would imagine that some of his aprehension has to do with setting a precedence. Cuban himself has drawn the ire of the league (definitely) and other owners (probably) so he may feel that if this door is opened, at some point he could be the next one shoved through it.

What's worse, being a blatant racist, or tolerating racism against those of your same ethnicity, or even supporting it, so that you can life a wealthy lifestyle?

And when it comes to Sterling's misdeeds as a property owner, when you own thousands to tens of thousands of pieces of rental property, you're bound to have people who don't like you, and are bound to even face a handful of lawsuits.

I'll take the example of the lady who's apartment was flooded. Sterling apparently told the property manager to "Just kick the b***h out". But we don't know the context of that conversation beyond that one single blip.

He's a blatant old racist, and she's a gold digger who sacrifices pride for an extravagant life style. Can't we just admit that they're both deplorable human beings?

In what way did her actions or words have a direct impact on the lives of others? I feel it's a downright silly point to try and make.

She's certainly not a role model, but hardly even close to the same level, let alone past it, as Sterling.

If conduct is such a big NBA ownership issue, who is in trouble due to their political contributions or any charges (civil court...to Federal) which an owner faced or will face.

Rich DeVos (Orlando Magic): Not only is a pyramid schemer through Amway, but his family is anti-Gay rights and places their money behind ballot measures against gay rights.

Mickey Arison (Miami Heat): His cruise(s) line has a lot of workers who work under minimum US wage.

Miller Family (Utah Jazz): As members of the LDS Church, they have opinions and possibly conduct to promote the LDS cause which may me not what the NBA would like.

What do they do? All of this is conduct by the owner.

Lastly, do they accepted the Nets ownership, whose oligarchy came from mineral rights. Who mined said minerals?

Cuban's statements definitely have me worried. He's never been shy with being a loud or maverick voice. Yet he's been very conservative in his public feelings toward Sterling. And this in a climate where'd he's gains nothing by being so 'understanding' of the old racist in public. Makes me wonder what some of the older more prudish elements in the NBA think about booting Sterling.

I mean it only takes what, 7 of them to :censored: this up?

None of these cases has anything to do with Donald Sterling being a racist.

Eh, bated or not, he still said what he said. If he didn't hold those sentiments he wouldn't have said what he said.
