This will take some getting used to.

The old set definitely had some issues, but there seriously isn’t a single thing about this new set that isn’t a complete and total downgrade from their last set. That navy helmet looks like some high school level trash.

Until I read that sentence, I was totally ok with the helmet.

Thanks for opening my eyes with this photo. The re-color of the helmet, the addition of an unnecessary outline, and that goshawful helmet stripe (ripped off from the AFL Gladiators) really meshes with what you said.

It really sucks, too, because they had an opportunity to do something really unique and awesome and instead just went even more generic. It seriously looks like a change just for the sake of change. The helmet decals they’ve been using are, at least to me, clearly designed for a white shell, and then they tacked on that thin fencing sword stripe that goes with NOTHING else in the set. I never really got all of the hate for the previous white shell, but it at least understood the motivation. But this fix is SO SO SO much worse.

The helmet is hands down the biggest piece of equipment a team has in terms of branding. Why would you eschew something very unique like that shade of Colombia blue or even the rumored Rutgers style silver helmet for what is EASILY the most overplayed color in sports? Who is getting paid to make such terrible choices?!

That leads me to my to my next point (I had this whole thing written out and it got deleted, some this part is a bit abridged).

If if you look at these recent Nike updates, you’ll see that they’re a bit of a barometer for what kind of team you’re getting. Usually, the bigger of a clown show a team is, the bigger of a clown show they’ll end up looking like on the field. For example:

Wins:

Vikings - usually always well run

Lions - used to be the definition of futility, but have improved dramatically over the past decade

Dolphins - sort of rudderless, but also improving a bit.

Hawks - (I like their set, damnit). Always good.

Losses:

Titans - mostly a clown show

Bucs - ABSOLUTE clown show

Browns - The KING of clown shows

Jags - usually a clown show but improving

So do you what to know if Nike redesigning your team is going to turn out well for you? Just look at how well your team is run. Pats, Steelers, Giants, Packers, Eagles, ect are probably gonna be pretty safe. If you’re a Chargers, Jets, Bengals, Ect fan? RUN, because you’re almost guaranteed to look as :censored:ty on the field as you do in every other aspect of the game because you’re run by morons who are incapable of making even the slightest good decision. That’ll absolutely reflect in your design package. This is why I firmly believe that the blame for this crap lies with the teams. Nike may present them with some terrible looking trash to wear, but it’s ultimatey up to the teams themselves to approve these moves.

Jesus, this set is going to look very dated within a few years.

It's the equivalent of the 2000's Bills nightmare.

WHY!

I still think the Columbia pit stains are the absolute worst thing about these. This angle helps my argument.

Here's the list of all the things I like about the new uniforms:

- they outlined the NOB in Columbia blue

That is all.

It says a lot that the old number font looks better than the new one, that was the worst part of their old uniform for me.

Greek inspired numbers that are shaped like the state of Tennessee, how do you even make that up? Maybe doing just one of those would have been ok.

Wait... so the jersey detail is double gray and the pants detail is double gray, but the helmet stripe is gray and white?  Why the F would they do that?  Am I seeing that wrong?

No, you're not. You see correctly.

Just atrocious, the old set becomes the classic Titans fans will beg to return.

That side by side really sells it. The Titans really didn’t have to change their look. Make the better combos their primary looks, and your done. I don’t mind the number font, or the logo on the helmet.

The red accents? You mean the Nike swoosh being the only red thing on the entire uniforms neck down? There aren't any red accents, just Nike trying to make their branding more noticable

they're red accents. i can appreciate you not liking how they chose to use red, but the red Nike logos are red accents.

In 5 years they will bring back the white helmets and likely redo uniforms too. These suck on every possible angle.

I liked the helmet when it was first shown but now think it's right up there with the Jags two tone monstrosity

This picture is something that keeps pulling me back. How is it that the new jersey appears to be out of focus and the old jersey looks crisp and sharp.

The new jersey really is blurred, probably because the brighter colors on the old jersey commanded the focus of the camera.

Where do the Titans go from here in five years? The set they replaced was probably dated itself, and this new set is already on borrowed time... do they go super fauxback? Just back to where they started?

Great question. Maybe there will be some new fad in 3 or 4 years they will jump on. As behind as NFL is in uni trends though, maybe whatever is going on now at the college level will be what’s hot in the League; which would be a very minimalistic approach. (look what V Tech and Illinois just came out with)

It can't be overlooked that the same design team (they are front and center in the promo videos) is behind the Jaguars' two-tone helmet disaster, the Browns disaster, and this latest Titans disaster.

How are they still employed by Nike/the NFL?
