Yeah those things are terrible. They're so ridiculously overkill. But I absolutely HATE what they have now. They're easily the most boring set the Astros have ever had, despite things like the bright orange cap.

I think they could find a way to use the rainbow stripes in moderation enough to embrace them without looking completely gaudy.

What, you mean like this?

And as for the Brewers, despite all the issues their uniforms have, I've always found it super cool that they literally have the color of beer on their uniforms. Probably because royal and athletic gold is admittedly superior but some of you are way too hard on the metallic beer gold .

Here's the issue I have with the metallic gold. It looks fantastic as an accent color in metallic thread:

Tryi to translate that into other fabrics, and something gets lost.

That top navy and gold is a gorgeous color scheme. The bottom one, not so much.

I initially hated it because I just saw it as a failed attempt at a gold jersey. Seeing it for what it is, though, it really doesn't look that bad. It still has a certain level of pop to it without going overboard:

I've always had mixed feelings on the gold jersey...some days I can l live with it and some days I hate it. I probably wouldn't mind at all if they scrapped it. If they got rid of it, I wouldn't mind them adding another fauxback to the mix. Part of me also thinks they are due for a pretty big overhaul but you really don't ever hear even a hint of that around here. They've had the current look for a long time..

I actually think it looks even better with the grey pants. I always felt the same way about the Marlins orange jerseys back when they would actually wear them on the road. Something about the road grey pants really makes the orange (and in this case, gold) pop.

Yeah that wouldn't be too far off. I'd say thin out those shoulder stripes a bit and update that wordmark, and it'd be alright. Maybe just rainbow sleeve cuffs or something, even.

Good point. We go from the unique look of beer to the bland look of honey mustard.

Serious question: Why can't they make the gold of the jersey look like the gold on the hat? It's 2015, we can't figure out a way?

Majestic can't even make more than one shade of COOLBASE grey. You're asking for way too much from them.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

I'm guessing majestic could do it without much difficulty, but at the massive numbers they produce, it's much easier on everyone to offer a set number of colors for the basics (white, grey, cream).. That way, they never end up making a set of jerseys for a team in "grey A" while accidentally making the corresponding pants in "grey B", or if a team needs an emergency jersey done real quick, they can't accidentally use the wrong grey.. I understand it's 2015 and these aren't "real" problems, but I also don't see an issue with having a standard for what "home whites" and "road greys" mean

So I was watching a TV in a bar,and I saw an MLB team (don't know which one) wearing a turn back the clock uni (it was from a game a while ago) that was white jersey, white pants, white hat, and all of the logos were black and the socks were black. It was seriously the most beautiful uni I've ever seen and it made me question why modern MLB teams don't go all-white

Sorry, I'm on an iPad

Milwaukee wore something similar to that description on Saturday for Negro League tribute night.

I'm pretty sure this has already been answered but do teams in 2015 have different grays or all they all the same? Are there examples of this because I doubt I could figure it our just by looking? If not in 2015 then in the past have teams worn different grays? What's the point? Seems meaningless to me seeing as no team besides CHW uses gray as an actual team color.

Teams used to use different grays a few years ago. Majestic had problem making Coolbase jerseys in gray which matched the pants, so when they finally found a match, they gave that shade to all teams (and of course adjusted their pants accordingly). I think it's dumb that these teams were forced to use one gray. Some teams would look better with a slight hue to their jerseys, such as the Royals going with blue.

The Marlins original road unis from 93 to the earlier 2000s were the best of this era, with the slightly teal tinted shade of gray.

Most images I have seen dont show it clearly, but in person wheh they played the Rays I saw a difference.

As a Marlins fan I must find visual proof of this.

It's probably just your eyes playing tricks, every once in a while I feel the Dodgers are useing a blueish grey, but really they are just useing the same grey as everyone else.

The Yankees still have a custom grey for those grey jerseys that are not cool base.

I've always thought I was crazy. Glad to hear they're actually different grays.

that said, some of them wear cool base so the grey cool base is the Dr as the rest of baseball.

Eh, it's better, but I always felt those looked more like a glorified BP jersey than a professional baseball uniform. I feel like the only way to get that pattern to work, if you must have it, is a small cuff on the sleeves. Something like thin stripes of red-orange-gold-navy or even just red-orange-gold forming a cuff about the size of the Phillies' road cuffs.

I would actually like to see that.
