2016 NHL Playoffs, Rite of Spring: "You thought God was an architect"

I know I said I'd like the Sharks to win the Cup, but these Blues are just so good. St. Louis finally has a winner, and we'd better get used to it. At a certain point, you have to respect greatness when it's happening.

Frustrating loss. Sharks were the better team through the last two periods, but the Burns turnover ended up costing them. The powerplay being crap didn't help either, but I'm cautiously optimistic they can fix this for Tuesday and take it back to the coast tied.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Why is there always a huge pair of :censored: behind one of the teams' benches?

EDIT: Apparently you can't say t!ts here.

Two more reasons why I'm really enjoying the playoffs this year. ;)

Sporting Venue Count (for games): OHL: 19 (28 Total)- 770 games (after 18-19),

MLB: 13 (15 Total), NHL: 4

This is going to be one of those series where the team that gets the right bounces could win in 5,

OR in 7...

Sharks are 0-4 in game 1 of the WCF. The last three times they were there they weren't terribly competitive, and I don't really expect them to be this time, either.

Murray is the reason the Penguins are here, why would you bench him over three goals...

Exactly. The media did this in the conference finals when he lost game 5 and the final of that game was only 3-1. The media likes to invent stories during the playoffs. It's 3 goals. Not 7.

So today, the Blues put out a video and a post campaigning to be "Canada's Team" for the rest of the playoffs. They also announced they'll play O, Canada before Game 1 on Sunday.

Cardinal Nation can not be pleased.

Well I was already rooting for the Sharks, but I wouldn't have been upset if the Blues have won. That's over now. This is a really stupid idea.

Been looking at draft histories lately. Thank god for free agency, because if NHL teams were made up solely of players drafted, the Colorado Avalanche would make the Quebec Nordiques look like the 1976 Soviet squad. Outside of drafting in the top 3, they're resume of first round draft picks is 50% players I'm pretty sure are completely made up.

I think that, between the college game growing, and the higher profile of hockey, we may start to see a move towards a draft system that looks a little more like basketball or football.

The transition could be tricky, but the payoffs are a more exciting draft, overall (it's hard to get really excited over drafting players we won't see for years), and a better payoff for the ten teams that don't get a lottery slot, but still missed the playoffs.

I don't hate the current system, but revamping it has a lot of potential.

Yeah, the NHL is talking about raising the draft age to 19. I don't think this is a very good idea. Even with the college game growing, the NHL draft pool is more cosmopolitan than the NBA, which is international but still very much domestic, and the NFL, which is entirely domestic. Maybe we'll see something done about free agency for drafted college graduates, like extended rights or increased compensation, but that's about it. If you're 18, you should be eligible.

I have nothing against 18 year-olds entering the draft. I just think that, once drafted, they should go into the team's system. If they want to stay in college or juniors, that's fine, but once drafted, they should be assigned to the team or an affiliate.

This is becoming more and more viable, since the ECHL has moved to a single-affiliate format. With the SPHL and FHL gaining a little traction, they could eventually become the 'single-A' level, should the farm system need expansion.

The Predators are a great example: Vesey was well within his rights to not sign, but this isn't the first time we've seen this scenario, and I think it's indicative of a need to change how entry to the league is handled.

The Blues ended up not doing it because of a "pregame conflict" So, take that for whatever it's worth.

So the Lightning are doing this again: "Only Lightning-branded or 'neutral' attire and apparel will be permitted in the Club and the Club-designated seating areas during 2015-2016 Lightning playoff games (including any pre-game and any post-game activities)."

As the Pittsburgh news anchor said in that link, get over yourself.

Hey guys, remember that conversation we had last year about this same damned thing?

This, like last year, is a case of the media stretching for a story. Is it a dumb policy? Yes (and I'm a Bolts fan). Is it worthy of multiple articles over multiple postseasons? :censored: no.
